PSA: Severe storms in mid-atlantic today

I'm in Bethesda, MD, and there's a super-nasty storm heading my way. VERY dark outside right now.

We got some wicked lightning from that line yesterday. I sat outside and just watched it come down for a god hour.

I checked on the weather in Va Beach (my hometown) and things aren't looking too too bad for them. Like a normal spring day here in TX as a matter of fact. But the rain is good for the mideast, the drought last year was pretty harsh.

we're under a severe thunderstorm warning here in southwestern Ontario.

Lots of thunder and lightning and hail just for the last hour.

Massive downpours here now w/ 10 thunderclaps a minute. Looks like the hail stayed a bit south of me.

Cool to watch, though. I stood out on my balcony for 15 minutes just enjoying the heavy rain. Soooooo soooooothing.

That popped up right over Detroit abut 2 hours ago. It was clear sky and all of a sudden I heard pounding on my skylights, look up and it's pouring. Certainly unsettled weather today.

London, Ontario gets more thunderstorms per year than any other Canadian city.

We have a tropical storm not too far away right now. Bit of rain and wind but nothing really bad and it's already on it way out of the area.

There's a tornado watch/warning/something in effect for the D.C. area right now. Hopefully we are not consumed by this funnel of epic proportions.
