PSA: Regular flavor oatmeal is so bland

I've been trying out new breakfast foods lately. Last weeks was Apple & Cinnamon flavor oatmeal and that was alright. Now I bought the variety pack and chose the regular flavor packet today. They should rename Regular Flavor Oatmeal to No Flavor Oatmeal.

Regular Flavor Oatmeal = teh suck

the more you know... [nbc ding]

Agreed... gotta add cinnamon and brown sugar 🙂

Plain is good for use in cookies...but that's the only use I can think of. 🙂

Regular oatmeal + splenda FTW!

Regular oatmeal by itself is quite bland, but on the other hand it's not good to pile on a bunch of sugar. Splenda is a good compromise.

I'll also mix in one bag of the flavored oatmeal (apples & cinnamon or maple & brown sugar) with an equal amount of regular oatmeal.

Plain oatmeal is awesome.

It is filling and slightly sweet. But considering my staple food is whole grain rice, I guess it isn't too different.

I do like flavored oatmeal though as well, add a slight bit of cinnamon and sugar and a banana and oatmeal goes to a whole new level of flavor.
But the prepackaged flavored oatmeal isn't even really oatmeal, it is mostly half sugar, which is gross.

I've never tried flavored oatmeal...but my mom always makes regular oatmeal with some sugar and milk. It tastes soooooo good.

think of regular oatmeal as "any flavor you want". you just have to add the flavor yourself. it's like buying a blank hard drive instead of buying a computer with windows preinstalled.

I often mix together a regular packet with another flavoured packet. Its a bigger breakfest, but I really cannot stand regular by itself. I buy the big variety pack from Costco and there is always regular in it.

You mean like white rice? Cmon, regular oatmeal>flavored oatmeal, it just takes a little imagination...I'll pick my additives, rather than what Quaker decides is cheap enough to sell more oats to the masses thank you very much🙂

Edit: and I don't like the crap 1 minute oats either😉

I just buy one of those big tubs of instant oats or whatever. I eat it a couple times a day. $1.89 or something versus the $3 or so they charge you for the box of flavored stuff. Plus there's like 4 times as much in it.

Its pretty bland, but I got used to it.
