Some of us do it as a quasi-joke insinuating something about manhood, i.e.:

However, and pay attention because this part has eluded you and many others, you don't need to go into every thread and say, "OMGWTFIHAVENOBALLS, you misspelled poll idiot!!!!" Thanks asshat, I know, I did it on purpose. It was a simple attempt at a joke, and whether it's funny or otherwise, your sense of humor is lacking. As you can probably make a logical conclusion, this means your personality is also lacking. But thanks for your PSA, I hope you enjoyed mine.

I'd like to take this opportunity for a followup PSA: This thread was an attempt at a joke as well. Unfortunately, my noble yet ultimately futile attempt at amusement was lost somewhere along the way into one of your ears and out of the other. 😛
