My mind is old and feeble and Im sick of having to interpret what people are trying to convey in OPs and replies. I have noticed over the past five years things have been going down hill fast:

1) Deliberate misspellings associated with the rise of /b/, eg. "moar", "wat", etc. I dont mean just here, I mean everywhere. It has replaced the original words on places like youtube and the like.

2) Failure to proofread. What makes sense to you might not make sense to other people. Yes, we all hated to learn about sentence structure and past participles, but reread what you wrote as a matter of course.

and worst of all

3) Assuming other people know what abbreviations stand for such as idk, tbnt, soasf, etc. Once people learn what those abberviations stand for they start to use them and it spreads all over the internet. Just type out the words! Unless you dont know how to type (I took a typing class in 1984), it takes less than a second to spell the phrase you are trying to use.

This is all coming from someone who is using poor sentence structure, abbreviations, minimal capitalization, and absolutely no apostrophes.

These new words and terms might seem stupid to you, but it's the evolution of the English language. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the English language has been adapting and otherwise changing for centuries. How is this any different?

You make a valid point alone. It is easy when you are the creator of something to understand what you writing, but as a READER it isnt. In the spirit of my request I will certainly avoid the overuse of certain key elements of style, in the name of preserving the proper use of the English language.

I think you missed my point entirely. While I often advocate the proper use of the English language, at the same time it's a pointless battle.

A few key points:

1. People can't be bothered to change their habits unless it directly and almost immediately benefits them.

2. Slang is the key to evolution. As much as I hate modern slang, it has always been prevalent in language. For example, look at how English has derived from Latin. If we didn't use slang, we wouldn't have the language we do now. Whether that's a good thing or not isn't really something we can answer. However, it has made every day conversation a lot simpler, and as you requested, more clear and concise.

Thanks! Well that is the problem with putting your thoughts in writing, as sometimes they can come back to to haunt you. But things do change and people change and all I ask it that people change for the better, grammatically speaking.
