Ohio. I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to give blood until we're 17...

My Grandma passed away with mostly the same systems. I have nearly 2 gallons in all of my blood donation history. Wish I could do more.

I'm the biggest pansy in the world when it comes to needles. I pass out at the sight of a needle entering my skin. Routine tetanus shot? I'm heading for the floor afterward, guaranteed.

But, I still donate blood, and I convince a lot of high school students to also donate blood. Tips: eat balanced meals the day before and the day of the donation. Drink lots of extra fluid (limit the caffeine) starting at least the day before. That makes the process much easier on your body and makes it go quicker.

Oh, and I don't watch the needle go in... just the slightest prick, in the beginning, then no pain/feeling of the needle at all.
