What's the point of doing something like that? (I honestly would like to know)

Force everyone to upgrade to premier accounts.

Premier accounts can accept credit card payments, & pay CC fees on ALL transactions (even those not funded from CC).

I've had a premier account for years now, I decided a long time ago that the percentage taken out in fees was well worth not having to reject payments & try to enforce a no CC policy when selling.

Just makes life much easier, & in all reality who am I to think I should get their service for free?

//don't mean cheapskate in a bad way, either...

Agreed. It amazes me how people will complain about a few bucks, where paypal has made things much easier than they used to be.

Premier account = paypal free $.30 + 2.93%

fvckers! i have two accounts, one personal and one premier. it works out for me, premier is not linked to any checking and send the money to the personal one, then I can withdraw the money. the premier acct is owned by my sister tho.

I don't think that, that's the whole point.

I'm quite content paying for their services.

Plus, with the PayPal debit card I get 1.5% back when it's used as a credit card. Helps ease the pain of the fees.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

So they take a little bit. You pay for convienence.

if you actively trade on forums, the monthly $500 limit sucks because if you move that much stuff, you incur additional short term losses.

And accepting CC payments thru paypal are risky. Some people do chargebacks months after they paid for whatever they bought.
