PagePlus just upgraded their Talk 'n Text 1200 plan (1200 minutes / 1200 texts / 50mb data - $29.95).

The plan now features 1200 minutes, 2000 texts and 100mb data for no additional charge. Couple in the usual 5% pin discount deals Callingmart usually has, you're looking at < $28/month (taxes included) to ride Verizon. And yes, you can use smartphones.

Also, I should point out, they added pin stacking a few months ago. So now you can "preload" your account with several months worth of pins at a time.

I've been on the TNT1200 for about a year. It is great, especially with Verizon's coverage. Now even better. The upgrade started on the 17th.....

Not knocking PagePlus, but for $10 more you can get the same amount of minutes (1200) but with unlimited text and unlimited Sprint 3G data with Virgin Mobile.

The advantage to Page Plus is that you can bring your own CDMA handset.

With an app that monitors your data useage, and stops you from going over, it's a food deal if you can use WiFi for your data.

I wish there was an easy way for me to find out how much data I use with Tmo

Verizon coverage versus Sprint native (no roaming) coverage. Where I am, I'd have no bars with Virgin Mobile.

There is one supposed confirmed activation of the CDMA iPhone 4 on PagePlus, however that used supposedly returned it for a refund after a few days because he couldn't get data and mms working on it.

Also, dealers have received a memo from PagePlus stating that iPhone 4's are not to be activated on PagePlus, and if any slip through they will be subject to possible deactivation at any (random) time.

In NW Indiana where I live, there is zero VM/Sprint coverage, so going with PP on the Verizon network is a no brainer. I have an HTC Incredible working perfectly on PP....

I think Virgin Mobile is better for most people in the modern world.
300 minutes.
Unlimited Data.
25 dollars.

Good times.

but you can't bring your own phone (or can you?) and their data speeds aren't as good (or are they?)

I'm really tired of paying over $120/month for me and my son. We use maybe 300 minutes a month, about 150 texts and no idea on data.

They ride on Sprint. If your Sprint service sucks then there you go. Check your coverage before signing on.
Still working on the phone issue but the rumor is you cannot bring your own. Since its CDMA its not like you can just swap a SIM card or anything.

Just to clarify for rudeguy... check your NATIVE Sprint coverage. Virgin Mobile doesn't work on Sprint roaming coverage, period. That means unless you're in a metro area or near a highway, odds are you won't get any coverage.

Also, no, Virgin Mobile is not BYOD. You have to buy one of their phones, and their selection is rather limited. The LG Optimus V is currently the top end "smartphone".

It should also be mentioned that Virgin Mobile's "unlimited" data is no longer unlimited. I believe the cap was recently dropped to either 5 or 2GB, and then throttled heavily after that.

Will a Sprint Blackberry work on pp?

It's possible. People have put Sprint phones (the EVO, etc) on PagePlus. However expect severe difficulty getting data and/or MMS to work. Also to note, PagePlus does not allow BlackBerries (Verizon ones) on the network. They are all blacklisted, and you will physically not be able to activate one. Sprint ESN's are not in the Verizon database however, so there's a shot you might be able to get it working, but again expect difficulty.

Nope... VM isn't the only ones that do it. But people keep saying they're unlimited, so it may as well be pointed out.

Technically they are unlimited. They dont stop service. They just charge extra or slow it the hell down.
:awe:

But seriously unless you tether and use the connection to Torrent blu-rays, you wont hit the 5GB cap. 2 gigs maybe.

The funny thing is I looked over all the details of Virgins plan and they never mentioned a specific number, even though I know darn well they have a limit.

PP is so close to being great, .16 per meg off the plan sucks. I wish they offered a 200 meg package for $10 a month. I don't use much data but enough to where 16 cents a meg is gonna add up.
