PSA: Omaha Hi/Lo > Hold'em

my brain can't get a handle on all the possibilities, i pretty much guess when i play it, so it is like a slot machine or lotto, all chance. i don't really want to try and learn it right now

The thing that makes it exciting to me are the betting patterns: you never know who's betting high and who's betting low.

😀

how does hi/lo work for any card game?

Is it just the person with highest hand and the person with lowest (aka sh!ttiest) hand split the pot?

Is there always two winners (the hi and lo) or can there be ppl who just all fold and one person takes the pot?

To have a qualifying low hand, there has to be at least 3 cards that are 8 or lower on the board, if there isn't there's only a high pot. The pot is split 50/50 between Hi and Lo if there there is a qualifying low hand (each pot may be split, it is common to have a low pot split)

It's also possible to win both puts with the same hand, as long as you're using 2 of your cards and 3 from the board. They could be identical, or they could be different

For example if you have 458T
and the board is A 2 3 9 Q, your A2345 could win both low and high pots

i see....too confusing for me hehe.

I have played regular NL omaha and I understood that pretty well...but I guess the hi/lo throws me off a little.
