Ylen13- Please edit your post. Disclosing her personal information is ethically and morally wrong. It is quite possible that it is legally wrong too, but I am not going to hazard a guess.

Apparently he found it by calling everyone in that town. LA Times had written about her friends and a friend let teh story out on teh air...

now teh media is going frenzed.. saying he broke her privacy..

Anytime you file a lawsuit it becomes public domain.. so just because your local tv station doesnt reveal it why cant someone who has it reveal it?

You're a fvcking moron. This isnt a lawsuit, its a rape case. Rape victims have the right to privacy under almost every states' laws.

Lykis better prey to go Kobe goes unconvicted. If Kobes convicted and it turns out this chick was raped. Lykis will likely face a multimillion dollar lawsuit, same way with any other media outlet that shows pictures or hands out her information.

Yea, hopefully Anandtech.com will cooperate with authorities in having that kind of idiotic post investigated.

And if Kobe was found not guilty? According to your reasoning, he'd be able to sue all the major papers for printing his name as the accused. Lawsuit's not going to happen.

Edit: You're calling her a rape victim already, how do you know she making up the charges?

Tom Lykis is the Asshat of the century, not just for this stunt, but for his whole attitude towards women. I rarely dislike anyone, but it would make my day to hear that he was in an automobile accident and wound up being a quadroplegic for the rest of his life.:frown:

Seems to me it's more ruiness to be accussed of a crime than a aledger of one. Why should they be allowed to release Kobe name? Sure not good for his image either..

Personally both should be sealed until an actual conviction is obtained...Then i think it's fine for Kobe to face the papers but not her.

This ignores the fact that the Constitution provides that trials will be public. Admittedly, I believe the framers were primarily worried about Star Chamber-style justice, in which the government's prosecutions were hidden from the public, but the upshot is that, once an adult is charged with a crime, the whole case is a matter of public record.

I think there are sound reasons for protecting the identity of alleged rape victims, not the least of which is that the exposure creates a strong disincentive for victims to come forward. God knows in this case I guarantee that the alleged victim has been besieged by death threats from every kind of creep. It just so happens that the Leykis show caters to the part of men that resents and suspects women, so his exposure of the victim's name is particularly unfortunate.

I don't see the upshot. Victims have been found to make up thier cases which in turn no matter if the case is throw out
besmurches the alleged crimminal whos case is withdrawn or dimissed or found not guilty. He applies for any position which requires backgroud checks he could easily be denied
for integrity issues. IMO there is a perception of guilt of anyone whos arrested which sorta goes against "innocent until proven guilty".
I'd say most people feel the same.

Edit: I have no idea who this radio guy is but he sounds like a sicko..

I don't see how he could break laws that are not applicable here.

(Assuming that this law is only applicable in Colorado.)
