PSA: never, ever use Word for web publishing

Just had to help my parents put a webpage up. I find it almost impossible to believe that MS didn't deliberately TRY to make the HTML that Word outputs as bloated, convoluted, and broken as possible. It's simply impossible to get it looking right. I tell them to get a real publishing program, or write HTML in notepad, but...

I guess Geocities isn't SO bad, except that you can't upload with directory structure (which is necessary with Word), and it has a lot of limitations on filenames.

*sigh* If they hadn't fed, clothed, and educated me for 18 years, I'd never put up with this crap. I can honestly say I prefer cleaning toilets to this.

Though I remember 8 years ago when I made my first Geocities account... heh... I think it was better back then.

Hehe. The first CSS I ever laid eyes on was an export from Excel. I thought "This garbage is supposed to be better than using nested tables"? The file was five times the size of the html file I wrote with the same appearance. I was so disgusted that I put off learning CSS thinking it was the emperor's new clothes.

Yeah, back then they had the neighborhoods and stuff and it was more of a community feel. I always wanted to get in the cool neighborhoods but never could find an open space.

I used Word, although not for a proper web page, just for something to go up temporarily until I can be bothered to think of a use for my website.
