PSA: Never, ever use Greyhound in Texas.

That's why you take the Chinatown bus lines. Done it at least a dozen times b/w NYC and DC, never had a problem besides it being crowded sometimes.

Bump because nobody should ever use greyhound if they have any other choice. Back in 2003 I bought a pair of greyhound tickets for travel to the closest airport several weeks in advance. When the bus finally came an hour late, it was full and there was not going to be another bus until the next day. There were about 40+ people waiting for that bus, and their ticket sales are computerized. There is absolutely no excuse for overbooking a bus and then not scheduling additional service. I ended up having to change my flight plans at great expense in addition to finding alternative transport to the airport. Greyhound usage should remain the exclusive province of prisoners and the Amish.

I've got to sympathize with you. I once traveled on Greyhound from Maryland to Kansas. A nightmare mind you and I had to take a suitcase and a tuxedo along for the ride. Traveled it once won't ever again. Some stations were nice but poorly run as said before. Others were pretyt much a hole in the ground. Sure nice for sightseeing but I won't do it again. Budget or no budget I'm flying.

I've taken greyhound numerous times from Georgia to Florida (mostly Atlanta to Tallahassee), and while I saw what you mentioned, I never was terribly bothered by it. If you actually end up sitting next to someone (crowded bus) and start talking to them, you'll learn that most people are generally at least fairly decent.

boy I can't wait to take Greyhound, you guys make it sound so awesome!!

*goes to hang out in the hood of Atlanta's underground, stopping and hanging out at Walmart on the way*

Before I go any further, let me explain that I don't see everyone equally. I believe that all men are created equal, but whether they make a success of themselves and do something with their life is an important factor. I'm not racist. I judge a person by their quality as a person without prejudice for race or other factors.

Ahh, good ole elitism. I feel the same way. VERY nice post, btw.

EDIT: Look at my sig. Glad you didn't end up in the 20%

As some of you know, I needed to get from Dallas to Longview yesterday. I entertained hitchhiking but eventually settled on the bus.

It was a terrible experience. I should have known- the type of people that use the cheap ...

edited out for length

... g 1.5 hours behind schedule? The bus actually ended up being 2 hours late, and we somehow lost another 30 minutes on the road. Totally inept and mismanaged, thats all I can say.

Enjoy flaming, as I'm obviously a bigot.

Isn't there something in the Bible about not judging people?

shhh! You wouldn't want any christians to hear you say that!

Riding in the greyhound does kinda suck. But remember, engineering is a high-prole job and not a smidge higher. Keep that in mind.
