PSA: Never Discuss Religion or Politics in Mixed Company

Modeps

Lifer
Whichever side you take, you'll be in a constant battle with someone who feels the opposite because there is no right or wrong, there's only opinion. People in general are passionate about religion (or lack thereof) and politics (or lack thereof). If you are in a bar, you very well could get your ass beat because someone disagrees with you and has thrown a few back.

In here, it's just futile. Give it a rest and have a beer.

😀

Cheeses love me, this I know, because my sandwich told me so.

Speak for yourself, toothpick 😛

<- 6'3", 235, Hockey Player. 😀

Then stop worrying 😛 I'll agree it does get annoying when it evolves into an "is too, is not!, is too, is not!" conversation, especially when your opponent is stupid, but the threat of physical violence is one you shouldn't be afraid of.

No, a possible threat of violence isnt a reason to not talk about something, that is true. I'm not worried, I'm just trying to look out for those that are young, tiny, and stupid.

So when do you win this type of argument? When the other party concedes that you are correct? Or when one/both parties give up and agree that the other party is an ill-informed asshat?

See subtitle of topic. No one wins, period.

I think you're wrong.

I do it with my friends, because we like arguing (except for this one friend who always plays devil's advocate and takes the opposite side of the majority opinion... I just want to punch her in the face). but never with anyone over 30.

Relativists are morons. Absolute, complete morons.

I learned this lesson long ago. The same holds true for online forums because NOBODY changes their mind. I don't discuss them at work either because it can lead to bad blood not to mention the owners are staunch supporters of the current administration and I am not. Also, we have a lot of religious people who are pretty set in their beliefs.
