PSA: Nerds =/= Geeks

Geeks are people who love computers beyond a normal person (kinda flexible - there are a lot of computer people who are normal), don't go outdoors much (not much of a social life), stay single for most of their lives, play Dungeons and Dragons, and love using the same internet sayings/pictures over and over again

Nerds are smart geeks

Smartness does not make you a geek or a nerd. You can be a genius who is also normal

AT is split up into 3 parts
Nerds
Geeks
Normal

What are you?
I think that I'm normal, but I see a lot of geeks/nerds on this forum (as well as normal people)

He has it wrong. Geeks don't necessarily love computers. Geeks are people with social abnormalities, Such as anyone that would go to a Star Trek festival dressed up as an alien.

Nerds on the other hand have more practical knowledge then the average Joe, and even enjoy learning it.

Nerds can be popular but Geeks cannot.

I refuse to be categorized by your poll with its inane and limited selections.

As number 6 would say, "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own."

I see geeks a little differently. It doesn't necessarily have to be a social abnormality. Geeks are more of anyone who has a passion for something, knows about it, lives it, or a has a full blown obsession about something. It can be the "classic" geek stuff such as computers, video games, and sci-fi anything to more "normal" things such as cars or a host of other things.

I agree with you on the nerd definition, though I think geeks can be more popular than nerds.

Lawls. The act of referencing The Prisoner reveals you to be, well, outside the mainstream -not that that is a bad thing. Heck, I will happily count myself same.

But what of that other class which I have long called "sports nerds" for lack of a better term; maybe sports geeks would be bettar?. They are likewise socially challenged yet not smart either. To cope, they desperately cling to sports as a spectator (not participant) for the vague association with manliness. Essentially, it involves a lot of sitting around watching TV and being incapable of conversation beyond said sports.
