I don't understand how people mix this up. It's like not knowing the difference between "give" and "take" or something.

Also people who for some reason leave the -ed off of "biased" and say that someone is "bias". Where does that even come from?

I'm so sorre grammar, Nazi. I put the wrong word there; but I bet your so perfect that I can neverever rad any of ur posts anD cathc u doin it rong.

It's not an uncommon mistake, but it is a mistake, nonetheless. If you had a piece of food stuck in your front teeth, would you prefer someone to point it out to you promptly, or nobody to say anything, letting you carry on unaware until you figured it out on your own?

You tell 'em, Taxt man!

Fuck netbonics and the slack-jawed knuckle draggers who defensively support it!

All that is necessary for the triumph of bad grammar is for good men to do nothing!

It's just how language evolves. People become lazy with speech, and that translates to the written word. Even much of what we consider "correct" grammar or proper English today many would have thought poor one hundred or two hundred years ago. Especially things like our casual overuse of intensifiers and adjectives like "awesome" and "amazing". Likewise, we find the various and inconsistent spellings of English words (even among academics) from earlier times to be awful.

Not that I advocate incorrect grammar or spelling. It's just understandable.

It's because we're human and are prone to weird things going on in our brains. I know the difference between the two words but even I have to stop and think for a second to make sure I'm using the right now.

It could also be that both words start with the letter "i", have 5 letters each, and 2 syllables. It's not crazy to think that people will mix up the two from time to time.

This thread needs a proper escape goat.

Forget the escape goat, we need a CTRL goat. All hail the Hypnogoat!
