PSA- I'm not letting my company force me to delete your posts.

Today I went into work and found a computer based course regarding company policy concerning social networking. For their purposes that would include internet forums. If I participate in any "social networking" and have the ability to remove "insensitive" posts I'm supposed to do so. Yep. Not only that I can't even swear or make Polish jokes.

Now this isn't on company time mind you, but always, as in right now when I'm off.

AT lawyers, WTF is this?

I thought it was common for company's to dictate employee behavior when they were off work?

If we were talking something which was criminal, sure I'd understand. But me censoring your rights because they tell me I must?

So yeah I clicked OK and will ignore it, but being a dick (oops I swore) I'm going to contact my Congressman and see what the hell is going on. Might as well bust some stones, cuz' that's how I roll.

If I change your title from "Adminitrator" to "Administrative Secretary." This would prevent them from realizing that you do indeed have the ability here to remove "insensitive" posts and not incidentally preserve the ever increasing post count of Godless Astro and his apparently heterosexual brother.

Uh, this is obviously more focused on Facebook, which has your real name and image, and often employer right on the screen. Bringing ATOT into this is just trolling 😛

Just have perknose tell them to pound sand.

I've composed the e-mail

Dear totalitarian employer,

I am Perknose. Supreme ruler of ATOT. Your silly corporate rules do not apply in our internet forum. Hayabusa Rider may post whatever he wants here. Including curse words, and Polish jokes. In short, pound sand, you corporate fucks.

Warmest Regards,
Perknose

I'm thinking of sending them an email in my colorful way explaining how I feel about their policy. The challenge is to include every violation I can think of (not professional or legal of course, just this garbage) in as concise a statement as possible.

I'm fairly unhappy with this although I don't how it's enforceable. It's a matter of principle. I suppose I should address my concern about crimethink to thinkpol.

I'm not sure there are enough hours in the day to remove such "insensitive" posts on these forums. Someone will always find something insensitive.

Lol @ the bolded.

The officious subaltern who produced this vid and the lazy, brain dead department head who ok'ed it should both be canned.

Given that insensitivity is subjective and that all posts could be deemed insensitive to someone, I guess you're required to delete all AT forums. Nice knowing ya.

btw-don't let them see P&N

Just use my definition of "insensitive".

What about all of these companies requiring you to submit all of your usernames and passwords for your online accounts? How is that legal? Especially considering that the terms of service for most sites involves not giving out your information.

Is that a common thing now? There's no way in hell I would do so.

What? Fuck em. That's what I say.

You have no authority to censor people on any site you do not own simply based on the 1st amendment. Ask your employer if they are ready to handle a lawsuit of that magnitude.

Pretty sure they can't do that.

In what labor officials and lawyers view as a ground-breaking case involving workers and social media, the National Labor Relations Board has accused a company of illegally firing an employee after she criticized her supervisor on her Facebook page.

This is the first case in which the labor board has stepped in to argue that workers’ criticisms of their bosses or companies on a social networking site are generally a protected activity and that employers would be violating the law by punishing workers for such statements.
