I had to sleep on one over the weekend and I swear, I'll never sleep on another, ever, again! In the mornings when I woke up my back hurt so bad, it wasn't fun. Last night I got back home and slept on my own Serta bed and its a puff-dream :) I have heard of IKEA mattresses being crappy but I guess you get what you pay for!

I would disagree with you. I slept on an IKEA mattress with one of those space foam mattress toppers and loved it!

Yea, my GF had an Ikea mattress; we put a feather bed on it and it was fine.

Being European, and only 23 years old, I am an IKEA-fanatic as well but never had nor slept on an IKEA mattress before. I guess tough lesson :) My poor back...

Pretty much anything from Ikea that isn't knockdown is going to suck. Couches, mattresses, etc. They have to keep pricing similar to the stuff they can ship easily, so quality is going to suffer.

Ikea stuff sucks in general. None of it is built for longevity or quality. Veneers, cheap padding, and soft-woods = short-term trash only fit for the dump within 5-10 years.

in a pinch, a few years ago for college, i grabbed an ikea matress and i love it. It's better than anything i've slept on and certainly better than whatever my gf bought brand new.

Ikea has several different lines of mattresses of varying quality. The more expensive ones aren't bad, I've slept on one before. I don't think they make pillowtop mattresses though. I like pillowtop.

Totally wrong!!!

I have had a desk for 12+ years and the only damage has been cuts by myself. I recently went back and got another desk (all steel) for about $150. I would take the opposite POV, IKEA is one of the few companies that builds quality products for great prices!

I love my IKEA mattress. Three years ago, I got it from the As-Is section for $30 or so, figured I'd throw it out when I could afford a "real" mattress, but it's just right for me - not too soft, not too hard, excellent support.

in my experience, very few places that are outside the US have nice mattresses. i swear ive slept on mattresses stuffed full of old news papers in other countries. and they were supposed to be quality mattresses.
