like any of the common troll variety, they crave attention. When they are called upon, they see it as thus gaining more attention.

Trolls always take the bait - that is why we have signs that say, "Please refrain from feeding the trolls."

It's because we react with childish glee when the troll pops out of the woodwork and proceeds to nibble on the bait. It's supposed to lure them into the trap of public humiliation, but we generally fail to recognize that said humiliation only encourages the troll, and in effect, might be similar to feeding them after midnight.

The furry ones are cute... but giving them the joys of humiliation when they pounce on the bait, well, we have no choice but to watch them transform into the hideous trolls we so desperately seek to eradicate.
