"...whether I think they'll slide into my lane..."

There's no way you should make a right, if there is traffic coming at all, in either lane. Whether you think they'll change lanes or not, is irrelevant. It would be stupid to take the chance, and may be illegal anyway.

Exactly, including when cars are coming, slowing down, with the blinker on to turn where you are coming out of. Until they are actually turning into the street the signal doesn't mean anything. If you pull out and they ram you, legally you'd be at fault. OTOH, If they actually started turning into the street and then they changed directions, well, that's a different story. Bottom line, wait for it to be clear. Anything else is taking a chance.

I believe it depends on what state you're in. If I recall, right-turn-on-red is illegal in some states.
It's illegal in Quebec I think, too :)
You are correct. It is legal in Ontario.

Turning on red is not the law. I do it, but only if there is a really good opening. I don't care if the jerk behind me would have gone, or if an old grandma would have gone. I'll go when I feel like it.
Which walker did you end up buying in the end, XZero?

I bought the florescent orange one with the white racing stripes. It's not just any ordinary walker, it's a SUPER walker. I can cruise upward of 3mph using that thing.

I've had that problem many times and I've only been driving for a month and a half now with my license... It gets annoying that they won't go...

PSA: If the light is red and you are on a Motorcycle in Tenneesse you can through the red straight, left or right because the traffic sensors embedded in the roads that lets the traffic light computer know there is a vehicle waiting at the light cannot sense there is a Motorcycle because there is not enough metal mass.

We have a new exit traffic light off the Intersate by me and they were very sloppy and poor in the placement of the embedded metal strips to sense vehicles, the strips are way too far right and cars pull up left missing the strips and you can sit there forever as the light will not change.

Beeping the horn does no good, these people will sit there forever. Usually have to back up and go over the concrete divider to get to the lane that turns right to then go left and get past these people sitting there.

I'm pretty sure that you aren't allowed to just stop and go, like you imply. I'm sure that if you are caught and tell the officer that you were waiting there for 5 minutes and the light didn't change, he/she would let you go.

Look it up. They made it Law June 2003 and went into effect July 2003.

Linkified:

Tennessee Motorcyclists Get Green Light to Go on Red

Motorcyclists will no longer have to starve to death while waiting for the green at intersections in the Volunteer State where sensors do not detect their bikes.

Riders in Tennessee can now ride through red lights if the traffic sensors do not recognize and respond to their motorcycles, under a billed signed into law June 4. It goes into effect July 1, 2003.

Any riders in TN, can you post how it's been going. It's been a Law nearly a year now.

One that trips a lot of people out, here in Oregon if you're at a two way red light, you can turn left against the red onto a one way.
