I downloaded it this morning. With the iPhone, you get the best of both worlds. All the major Google apps and exclusive Apple first party apps you won't find on any other platform.

What first party apple apps are good?

And choosing default apps.
And widgets.
And maybe...

Wait... at this point why not just go with Android?

This is why it's lul for me. If they are Google product the majority of the time it makes much more sense to use Android phone and vice versa. If I was using iCloud/iTunes, last phone I would use would be Android.

This just doesn't logically compute for me.

I can only speak for my personal preferences. Choosing default apps is a non-issue with me. I use one widget on my S4, a weather one, and while I do enjoy it I could live without it.

What would still draw me to the iPhone is the camera which is arguably still the best all around smartphone shooter. Plus certain apps tend to simply perform better to their Android counterpart.

Yeah, I hadn't cancelled my sub yet, and the app is pretty meh.

Rdio and Spotify have better, cleaner apps on iOS.

What? No, it's terrible. PowerAMP is three times the player Play Music is.

It isn't terrible. If you don't like it, fine. But that's a pretty sweeping statement and for most consumers the Google Music player is excellent. PowerAmp is also very good.

Thank goodness. I've been waiting for the day I can use this on my iPod and iPad. Only being able to use it on my phone and computer have been annoying.

I use a Nexus 5 and iPhone 5S and subscribe to Google All Access. I've been using GMusic 2 on my iPhone and that works okay, but I'm really happy Google Play Music is finally here.

So far, it seems the iOS music is missing Genre Radio Stations. On Android I can go into the Genre section and start a radio station (a new feature added to the Android version not long ago). The iOS version still doesn't have that, so seems to be a bit behind (hopefully it won't always be half a year behind the Android version).

Also on the iOS version if the music gets paused because I unplug the headphones, and then later go back into the app, it'll automatically start playing again (with or without headphones plugged in). This is kinda annoying as it shouldn't just start playing without me pressing play like the Android version.

Other than that, it seems to work pretty well. Yeah, it's not the best music player out there, but I don't think most other music apps will support streaming your All Access music subscription.

The Play Music *system* is excellent. The app gets the job done, no more.

was just thinking the same thing. love the play music because i can have my entire library of music everywhere i go, PLUS access to everything google has.

the player is just ok as stated above.

one little thing that ticks me off is you can't share a song to FB or Twitter, just Google+. i know Google is trying to do everything for Google+ to succeed but while I use a ton of Google products, i don't use + and would love to share toons with my friends. and that would only give Google Play Music a lot of exposure. i think it's a bad call.

I still prefer my Zune pass (now xbox music) to the alternatives. I wish it had the metro UI on Android, but I still prefer it over the Google Play UI.

I need a music player that can play music from my SD card and Google Music collection with no issues. That's what this app does for me and that's why I and many others love it.

loved the zune for years. can't believe microsoft created something so good and not market it well. finally sold both my zunes, one 32 and one 64gb one, because of Google Play Music Pass.

Agreed. Default apps are totally a non issue. In fact it causes more issues more often for me.

In Facebook, it fails to pick up a Youtube link and opens up a browser instead. If I default to a browser other than Chrome, it will fail to open up Youtube. So essentially I HAVE to use Chrome. Want to blame Facebook like the rest of the AT crowd? It happens in any other app like Twitter that links to a Youtube or Instagram URL.

In fact, choosing a default app isn't the most important thing... it's about choosing WHICH app. I never hit the "Always" button and instead just double tap my choice. Sometimes I might want to use one app or another.

And widgets? While they're nice I don't think I've skipped a beat without them on my iPhone. I feel like people are just throwing out advantages Android and making it seem like those are major compromises that iOS users have to put up with? If anything I feel the effects of the Nexus 5's crappy camera everyday...

I think people are throwing out things that are actually major compromises for *them* in using iOS (which naturally becomes the advantages of using Android, for them). It should be completely fine if these are not what *you* consider as compromises (and therefore not consider them Android's advantages). You may not have skipped a beat without widgets, but maybe millions of others do? You can't possibly really think that the only valid concerns in the world of smartphones are just yours.
