PSA: Firefox 1.0 is out NOW (11/09/2004)

  • Thread starter Thread starter

This will probably be the Mozilla organization's biggest day in quite some time (possibly bigger than the Mozilla 1.0 launch, due to the full-page NYT ad). Minutes after it's released, it'll probably be on C|Net, Slashdot, and millions of blogs around the world.

Personally, I'm not counting on accessing the site until tomorrow night. Good luck, and POST REVIEWS! 🙂

Is this drasticly different from the 1.0PR? If they've finally fixed the bookmark bug, I'd be happy.

Firefox, a browser based on the Mozilla Foundation's open-source development work, is scheduled to be available for free download at 1 a.m. PDT Tuesday.

1am PDT ? I couldn't think of a better reason not to care anymore... I'll get it when I get it.

lol, I agree. I'm in no rush as 1.0PR works just fine.

Some people (it seems to be completly random) have a problem with bookmarks where Firefox deletes your bookmarks every time you exit the program. I didn't have the problem, then I reinstalled it and it cropped up for me.

It's very annoying and the #1 reason I still use IE for some sites.

check the attributes of the bookmarks file and make sure it isn't set to read only...

i guess that wouldn't delete it though... hmmm...

The latest version on the FTP is:

firefox-1.0.en-US.win32.installer.exe 08-Nov-2004 09:41 4.7M

I wonder if this will turn out to be the one released tomorrow. I guess I'll compare the MD5 hash of tomorrow's release with that of this version.
