just finished it a few nights ago - i didn't like the first ending, but the coda was good - it capped off the entire series on a positive note and made me see Roland in a completely different light.

<POSSIBLE SPOILER>

Jake and Oy made me cry like a baby...

Well, I finally finished it. I thought the ending was great. Fits perfectly. There were some disappointments, of course, like the swift deaths of MANY important characters, in addition to those Loki mentioned. Also I felt Patrick was too much of a "deus ex machina" as King liked to state. All in all, though, once cutting through the fat (and there's a lot of it in this one at almost 900 pages), I think it was an excellent finish to the series.

Just finished and I have to agree. I was disappointed with some of the battles that I figured would be much more dramatic (Walter, Mordred, even the Crimson King), but the ending was perfect.

Yeah, I think there should have been at least another book to handle all the loose ends a little more effectively, as many things felt rushed, but I understand that he wanted to finally end it.

The series would make for a kick-ass dark anime, IMO.

It has definitely inspired me to re-read the series. Since there was such a long lag between IV and V I forgot a lot of what happened.
