Speaking of old Lucas Arts games, GOG has the King's Quest, Hero's Quest, and Space Quest , Quest for Glory, Police Quest games and more Sierra games all on sale https://www.gog.com/promo/weekend_promo_activision_040316

The Space Quest ones are good for a laugh, heck, most of them are pretty good, though, they don't have leisure suite Larry up for some reason (the good versions, not the crap they recently put out).

Even though I love those kinds of adventure games, I'm quite horrible at them. I just can't get far without a walkthrough.

Bought them via humble bundle and xvt worked perfectly. Using a ps2 controller on the pc.

So far my Steam version of *a couple* of those X-wing series seem to work okay... but I wonder if my old joystick is wonky or if it's poor software support.

Good thing I got a super sale.... but next time I'll be going GoG by your recommendations!

Might those games work better on a windows xp machine? Or even a windows 7 machine?

It looks like the least effort was done making those games on steam. It really seems like Steam doesn't even do any testing when the put a game on. Does that mean that the downloads aren't tied down by steam DRM?
