When I'm dealing with flowers here in town, I use a variety of other "local florists", but when I was on the road working, that was never an option.

Happily, my school has started a flower arrangement class in the Horticulture department, so I got a nice flower arrangement with roses and several other varieties for my wife this year...MUCH cheaper than through a florist shop, AND got to support the school.

Which reminds me of one of Dorothy Parker's sayings "You can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think."

call them and isntruct them not to deliver, do a chargeback.

did you read my 2nd to last paragraph?

apparently I missed it in reading the rest of your long-winded, rambling rant.

"People are inherently stupid."

Irony? :)

been there - got screwed out of a delivery once too. Also the wife says don't bother with flowers since they are never that nice anyway. I've ordered from a few places before. They look nothing like the pictures. Once I ordered something with a nice vase and everything... it came in pieces... you have to have the recipient put it together. Yeah, great. Such a rip-off that day is.

This reminds me of an order I made from proflowers last year-- except they handled the situation far better. I had ordered to flowers to be delivered the 12th, two days before valentines day. Well, for some reason fedex either misrouted the flowers or some other mistake occurred which resulted in the flowers not reaching their destination on the 12th. So I gave proflowers a call, and they were unable to explain what happened. Sensing that I was slightly annoyed at this, they said they would send another, identical batch to be delivered the next day because the flowers that were delayed may be less fresh when they finally arrive.

Both flowers arrived the next day, in great shape. Proflowers did not charge me for either batch of flowers. Of course, if you had ordered the flowers to be delivered on the 14th, and they missed it, there's pretty much nothing they can do to make it up to you completely. But I ordered from proflowers again this year, and it worked out just fine.

Yeah... you really should make sure to use your local florist next time. Not only will they be cheaper, but you'll be able to talk to someone in person if they screw up.

I personally haven't had any problems with FTD.com myself, but they always charge 50% more and the flowers aren't as nice.

I ordered from 1800flowers about 8 months ago, no issues, delivered on the exact day i wanted and had no problems whatsoever. I doubt i'll ever have to order flowers again, but if i did and couldn't get to a local florist, i'd use them again.

Don't bother with any of the big companies for flowers.

There are plenty of directories online; use one to find a local florist.

You get fresh flowers with better (more flexible/reliable) delivery options.

My wife would kill me if I ever did that.

I happen to love roses,my husband went to our local supermarket where they had tons of roses for Vday and hunted till he found a perfect bunch.I've had flowers delivered for Vday before and these are actually nicer, all the roses are going to open and they probably cost a 1/3 of what they would of if he'd ordered them.

Same thing happened my brother-in-law when he used 1800flowers few years back.

Costco and Sam's Club are not really that cheap during Vday. The cheapest chain place to get roses on Vday is Whole Foods Market/ Harry's. They have 2 dozen roses for $19.99 through Vday. The past couple years, that's where I picked it up. It's great because I can give dozen to my wife and a dozen to my mom for only $20.

I have discovered that large corporations basically have shitty service and could care less about the customer.

If you want great service use a local flower shop. I know that doesn't help your experiance with 1800noflowers though.
