So I placed my order for flowers on the 11th to be delivered the 14th. They even had a verification screen to make sure i knew i was paying extra to ensure delivery on the 14th.

So my girl gets home from work Thursday. Nothing is in here hand. So I tell her I ordered flowers and they didn't come. While she understood i still felt very bad and let down.

I call them the next day. The best some lady says she can do is give me %20 of my purchase back and they will deliver that day. I was pissed but said sure whatever.

They weren't delivered yesterday either.

So I call back today to tell them I'm fed up and I feel they should be delivered and I should get my money back. He then tells me he can refund me $15 (shipping) and they will be delivered. I asked if it was on top of that 20% i'm getting back and he told me that the lady didn't put any 20% credit into my account, and that typically they send it in the form of a gift certificate. He then says they can go ahead and do that and I ask him if he really think I want to shop there again. I then ask to speak to a manager.

The manager comes on and I tell her the situation and she apologizes and basically tells me the same thing as the other guy did. She said she has guidlines she has to follow and the computer wont let her change stuff. I asked if I could get the 20% gift certficiate just reimbursed back to my purchase total and i'm put on hold while she checks.

She comes back and tells me she can't, and only a gift certificate can be issued. I ask her if she really think I would want to shop there again after this happened and she said sure because they guarantee this won't happen again. I told her yah thats what I thought previously too which is why I ordered from them since I had used them prior, but look what happened, on the 1 day out of the year that matters.

So in the end I just told her I want my money back. She said she was sorry and she'll issue me my $$ back and give me the gift certyificate ontop of that to use just in case I want to. I don't know if I will though.

All in all this was completely ridiculous. I stayed calm and cool the whole time on the phone cause I know getting an attitude doesn't help, although it was hard not to. So my girl still doesn't have flowers 2 days after vday. I think I'm going to just go to a local floral and get her something and just deliver it myself today to her at her job.

Yeah, Proflowers.com screwed me this year.

Ordered 2 dozen flowers each for mom & sis (widow and recently divorced, respectively :() on Feb 5 and they cancelled my order WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME.

Fortunately I checked online status on Feb 13 and was able to find roses on VDay.

Filed BBB complaint, I suggest you do the same.

(Incidentally I did call on Feb 13 but was told there was nothing they could do and promised a manager would call back. Never received that phone call.)

did you read my 2nd to last paragraph?

If you paid by CC, he is encouraging you to call your CC company, explain what happened and proceed with a charge back with them. Nothing 1-800-Flowers can do about it.

You guys are rediculous. The cheapest way to get flowers is to call your local florist. 1800-flowers and others like them just have contracts with local florists. You're guarenteed to get better service and lower prices from local.

Google local + florist = WIN.

Did YOU read the second to last paragraph?

I missed it the first time around too.

Actually, Sams Club is where I ended up getting 6 dozen roses. Great quality, less than $30/ 2 dozen.

Of course, I had the day off and was able to hand deliver them...which worked out better in the end.

Only unimaginative people who can't think for themselves give roses for Valentine's Day.

My wife would kill me if I ever did that.

Even when I need flowers delivered in another city, I always call a florist in that city directly. Why involve other people in the process when they have no stake in the outcome?

I've used 1-800-flowers and FTD for years with no complaints.

When I'm dealing with flowers here in town, I use a variety of other "local florists", but when I was on the road working, that was never an option.

Happily, my school has started a flower arrangement class in the Horticulture department, so I got a nice flower arrangement with roses and several other varieties for my wife this year...MUCH cheaper than through a florist shop, AND got to support the school.

Which is why they're such a hot item on Valentines' Day.

Your wife falls in the minority.

(for the record I give roses in addition to other things. your generalization sucks and is narrow minded.)

There was obviously a screw up, and it's not normal- probably a problem with the florist they used. I've used them at least 15 times in the last 3 years and have been over satisfied with the results.

Costco does have great flowers for great prices, if you have the time to go get them yourself.
