Foreign rice or domestic rice? IIRC, the US is the largest producer of rice in the world.

Umm, you could actually read the article, which would explain why you're wrong.
<edit, fixed:>
Whoa, check out that article! They also talk about a cop beating someone nearly to death out in a rice field!

In the article:

White rice grown in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas, which account for 34 percent of U.S. produced rice, generally had higher levels of total arsenic and inorganic arsenic than rice samples from elsewhere, including India and Thailand, Consumer Reports said.

Just use MSG on your rice. The MSG chelates the arsenic, allowing it to pass through the body un-absorbed.

Okay, that's bullshit I just made up.

Rice is shit. Devoid of nutrition and fat inducing. I stopped eating that shit a few months ago and never felt better.

Maybe bleached rice ... whole grain rice is a great source of complex carbs. Everything in moderation.

Umm, no. Maybe you are thinking corn. The US may not even be in the top 10 rice producers. China and India together produce more than 50% of the world total.

Rice is also one of the least traded grain, percentage wise. Most countries produce for internal consumption.

Healthy adults don't really have to worry about this so much. The risk is more for younger children and pregnant women (the arsenic gets passed on to the kid).

Anyway, as someone pointed out, it's only the southern US rice that's affected. Turns out it was because they are growing the rice in fields where they used to grow cotton, and the arsenic was used back then as a pesticide.

This is BS, heh.

The pure fact that they're recommending corn as a replacement for infant food is all the evidence I need.

"Yeah, let's trade something that is relatively good for infants (they need lots of carbs and fats) for something they can't digest!"

Great idea.

With an Armenian mother, growing up we had pilaf 4 nights out of the week. Am I going to die?
