PSA: Dear jackass

When riding behind a group of bikers doing 35 mph on a really (i mean really) narrow road, with 25 mph speed limit - please don't try to pass us by jumping into opposing lane. Let me list the reasons, you d*ckweed.

1) This is a really winding country road. I can't go any faster than 35 because the road keeps winding. We're already doing 10 mph over the limit. Is that not enough.

2) There are several of us. We span over 40 feet in length. What if there's a car coming towards you? Are you gonna jump back into your lane, possibly knocking one of us down?

3) And lastly, I don't expect you coming from the left. The road is so narrow that a lane is barely wide enough for one car. When you jumped to my left you almost knocked me down.

Ok, that's it. I hope you have a nice day.

mind if a hijack this thread? 😛

I keep thinking about getting a bike, but how well do the handle during the winter, on snow/ice?

Very poorly. Also keep in mind the windchill factor, which means when riding a bike it'll fill like 20 degrees colder.

Go bike somewhere else. Nothing worse than holding up traffic on a leisure run. It's bad enough having to go behind a slow 15 ft long vehicle, but when you don't have the option to pass, it's quite annoying indeed.

I did this to a bike yesterday except I did it on a two lane, shoulderless road. I completley respect bikers, as I am one, but there is never a reason to ride a bike anyhwere where you will be an obstacle to traffic of the 3000lb variety. It doesen't matter if you're doing the speedlimit, because as soon as that hill ends, you're going to deaccelerate so fast that you'll be a danger to anyone following you within 30 feet. Some areas simply aren't safe for you and you need to respect that and find another way, or be curteous and wave drivers to pass you.

35 MPH on a bike on a country road isn't a leisure run, especially considering they were already 10 MPH over the speed limit.

Thank you... I wouldn't go much faster in the car on that road, and anybody who's read my infamous thread knows that I'm a pretty fast driver.

yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I have a hard enough time in my car -- my commute is only 2 miles, but when I'm leaving work at 2-3 am in the winter, I usually have to deal with unplowed roads at least part of the way. the only saving grace is that I'm typically the only car on the road, so I can drive straight down the center and don't have to worry about hitting anything if I start to swerve 🙂

definately want to fully suit up and wear thermals if they don't bother you too much.
