I remember when I was younger, my parents still had the full-size suitcases they received as wedding presents. Those had a HANDLE...no wheels. You had to carry the full weight using only one arm/shoulder.

Hell, when I went backpacking in Europe a couple years ago, I ended up carrying my gf's old suitcase up most flights of stairs (2 handed) while my own pack was still on my back. Probably 90 lbs worth of stuff on my 140 lb frame.

I loved my rolling backpacks when I was in school...especially on the tile floors 😛

Sorry. But I work in Silicon Valley that is literally crawling with Indians. And I can tell you 95% of them have backpacks. The train is full of them. In fact I can't remember any one of them using a regular messenger bag for a laptop.
Maybe it's because they bring their lunch to work as none of them seem to eat out here in SF.

I'm Indian and I carry my work clothes in my backpack as I run to work and back, 3 miles each way. Don't be jelly, fatty 😉

I love my backpack. I never had enough room in the bag my company gave me. But with my backpack I can carry my notebook, my external dvd writer (for our servers that don't have dvd drives. Yes I could leave it in the data center, but then some dumb ass would misplace it.), my dongle cables for serial connections and hooking into the blade servers (again, read about my dumb ass co-workers constantly losing any left in the data center). Various books I'm reading at lunch, snacks, my firearm, wireless mouse, etc.
