PSA: Coke-a-Cola now sells Melo-Yello in So Cal

I had this delicious soda a few times long ago, but never found it out here because Coke didn't distribute it on the West Coast. I had talked to a few of their people about this when I worked at a store that sold Coke products. They said I couldn't even special order it because they didn't ship it outside of the regions it was sold in.

Was at Stater Brothers today and saw a bunch of 2 liters, so I guess Coke has finally smartened up. This is an awesome soda worth trying for all who've never had it before.

I thought they always have? Or maybe they stopped for a while. I grew up in Anaheim and remember having it there.

Edit: maybe I'm thinking of this.

Dunno, it was a long time ago.

I have a 12 pack at home. 😀
It seems that Dr.Pepper/SevenUp also started distributing Sun Drop here as well.

I saw Sun Drop too, is it almost the same thing? If so I might need to try it, hell I probably need to any ways because it's a soda I've never had.

They might have 20+ years ago or something, but Coke hasn't carried it on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. Definitely not in the past 15 years though, I use to always look for it without any luck.

i tried this at the coke store in LV (back when it was still super awesome)

it's fucking terrible.

Minnesota has had Mello Yellow for awhile now (a few years) had one a few weeks ago in our pop machine here at work. Might have to grab another. 🙂

I had it as a kid, but then didn't see it for years in the Missouri / Kansas areas. The popular thing was Mtn. Dew. But, when I got to MN, wow, the stuff is everywhere. It's okay, I choose it once in a while.

The Coca-Cola company has a different distribution model from competitors like Pepsi Co.

Coca-Cola distributors are not owned or operated by the Coca-Cola company (even though they have names like "Coca-Cola Bottling Co..."). The dominant distributors in west coast areas choose not to distribute Mello Yello. The Coca-Cola company would gladly ship the syrup to the bottling companies in the west if the bottlers would order it.

I had a friend in GA who wouldn't drink anything but Mello Yellow and bitched when someplace would substitute Mountain Dew. He fueled his late-night Quake sessions with it so his PC desk was buried in MelYel cans. It got so bad that his teeth were turning orangish-green. He was a true addict.

I've never had it before so I guess I'll have to make the trek to a Stater Bros.

Mello Yello is the best thing Coke makes, but sadly they don't distribute it near me (or, if they do, I haven't found it).
