I've been turning down bacon all these years? damn I feel foolish now. All those missed opportunities to savor that food of the gods, pork.

I have been boycotting them because of their food isn't as humane as they claim. They are the only major fast food place to refuse to sign a pledge to ensure tomato pickers who pick the tomato they used are paid a half way decent wage. They clearly care more about money then the slave labor that they are exploiting.

I guess that just doesn't bother me... /shrug

I eat the food, my day continues. I don't care where they get it. I'm not advocating them, I just don't care at all.

Seriously, they could beat children to make them mash up the guacamole for all I care.

Haven't you read their cups? Like they support Tobasco, man, and other stuff. They care. They only hired all those illegal workers because they wanted to be authentic.

Hmm, I have never heard of a pork allergy. That's rough :(

But yeah, I didn't go anywhere more with it than that. I still don't know why they won't eat it though. I guess if I cared I would google it.

Depending on the religion - biggest thing historically was that pigs were considered "dirty" animals - they wallow in their own refuse/mud/etc and historically have harbored far more parasites that caused fatality in humans, especially since back in the day people didn't cook things the way we do now, nor were farming conditions as sanitary as they are now for pigs. Ergo: Pigs cause death. God says stay away from the dirty animal.

But you still feed her bacon... right?

Um... yeah. (Turkey bacon)

Are people not responsible for their own due diligence anymore? No one made anyone order the beans. Anyone who doesn't eat pork, but "accidentally" got pinto beans has no one to blame but themselves. A damn 30 second search on google will tell you they're made with bacon.

Absolutely the consumers fault, for every instance of this happening.

well, i mean, if some people are very religious and eating pork or something that's touched pork is an issue, then don't you think the company that cooked their beans in pork without notifying the public first would be at fault? i mean, seriously, they're pinto beans... who would ask if their beans were cooked in pork when you think you're just getting regular pinto beans? they even ask you when you're making your order "pinto beans?"... they don't say "pork-cooked pinto beans?"

anyways, just a thought.

My point was they should have done their own research first. I don't like hydrogenated oils. Do I need manufacturers to start printing a note on the front of their bottles saying they do/don't use them? No, because I'm responsible for my own consumption.

No god damn accountability these days...

It's fairly common for beans to be cooked with bacon. If somebody was really that concerned about not eating pork or foods that have come in contact with it, you'd think they would be aware of stuff like this and take the appropriate precautions.

Apparently this info has been on their website for quite a while, vegetarian and vegan customers are instructed not to order the pinto beans since they are cooked with bacon. Still should be on the menu, though, so nice to hear they will be changing that. All things considered I'd say they handled the situation pretty well, the CEO seems like a decent guy.

And every other fast food place is so humane, right? Gimme a break. Chances are all those fast food places signed some stupid pledge to shut people like you up and are still buying tomatoes from the cheapest source possible.

"When I found out about the bacon, I immediately felt ill and queezy, and am not exaggerating when the thought of what I had been eating for the past decade nearly made me through up."

Pretty idiotic. What a pussy.

Yup.

Plus they all have signs/stickers on the door and sneeze guards that say "food in this establishment may have come in contact with pork products". Even if they only used carnitas, there's still a chance things were mixed or "cross contaminated". Dairy Queen has a warning about peanuts on their doors too.

Anybody who can't (or won't) eat pork shouldn't be eating at Chipotle. Simple as that.

I'm sure he's rationalized it that he didn't KNOWINGLY consume pork, and that's why his god hasn't smote him. For he is a forgiving god, with compassion for all of his creatures.

Still doesn't make much sense. I mean, the reasoning for back then makes some sense if they had unsanitary practices, but it doesn't today.
Oh well. More bacon for me.
