PSA: Chipotle pinto beans cooked in pork

Steve Ells is a good dude. I've e-mailed him in the past about something and he called me to discuss as well. Nice to see an executive not just ignoring people because he made it to the top.

I really don't get the no pork thing, especially now. I've got a coworker who won't eat it. She doesn't even know why not. "My religion tells me not to" Why? "No clue" /facepalm

That said I do agree they should disclose such info, but still...

I've never eaten there, but beans would be way better with bacon in them. Of course there is no reason they should not be disclosing it on the menu for those who have dietary concerns.

I like how he was eating it for 10 years then when he finds out that it has pork he gets nauseous and wants to throw up.... Riiight. It's in your head buddy.

I'm all for them labeling it correctly.

But, why is having bacon in pinto beans a problem? If anything, it should be looked at as an improvement!

Meh, should have kept it the way that it was for a few more years. Jews don't believe in hell, so no harm no fowl. Muslims do believe in hell though, so they'd burn for that bacon flavored bean goodness.

My daughter has an allergy to pork products.

Other than that, never question religion. It's a losing proposition.

Hmm, I have never heard of a pork allergy. That's rough 🙁

But yeah, I didn't go anywhere more with it than that. I still don't know why they won't eat it though. I guess if I cared I would google it.

Good response from Chipotle, but that guy in the article is an idiot. I eat pork freely and even I knew that their pinto beans (which I've never eaten) were made with bacon. Someone who cares about eating pork EASILY should have known.

What a fucking dipshit, god damn. Such a drama queen. "I feel ill..." Yeah well you certainly felt fine every time you ate the beans, didn't you, IDIOT?

GAH!

Every single time I've ever been to Chipotle, they always tell ask "black beans or pinto with bacon?"

Given that I'm led to believe that it's part of their training and that they were aware it was something worth noting. Whether or not the servers actually do things by the book is entirely up to the employee though. Guess putting it on the menu makes sense so there's no question.

my roommate just told me about that yesterday. he's muslim and we've eaten at chipotle a couple times. we were wondering if there were any muslim organizations that were gonna sue.

a couple of things:

--anyone who doesn't eat pork, and is a carnivore, has serious issues that they need to deal with
--pinto beans without pork would be a major fail
--black beans are far superior as it is, so I'm not sure why he or anyone would choose the pinto beans.

Are people not responsible for their own due diligence anymore? No one made anyone order the beans. Anyone who doesn't eat pork, but "accidentally" got pinto beans has no one to blame but themselves. A damn 30 second search on google will tell you they're made with bacon.

Absolutely the consumers fault, for every instance of this happening.
