I haven't found a need for a flashlight in over 20 years. I have a cheap one around if the time comes where I need it. I can't justify paying that kind of money for a flashlight, especially when you are paying tons just for the name. It's a friggin flashlight!!!

I have a 5D in each of my vehicles. I keep it there for parking situations. If I come back to my car and find that someone has carelessly dinged my door with theirs, I show them what a ding really is.

PS I've only had to do this once, with my last truck.

For actual lighting, Surefires are the way to go.

um... what if the guy that dinged your car already left and someone else took their spot?

i think...and i may be wrong...but i think alot of people DO have a use for a flashlight, especially one that wont break when you drop it once.

i keep a cheap one around the house, i had one of those shake lights but i cant find the damn thing :/ wasnt super bright (single LED) but it was made of some thick plastic, quite sturdy, and ill never have to worry about needing a battery...if i can find the light, that is.

anyway, theres nothing worse than using a cheap flashlight, dropping it in the middle of something and having to go buy another one to finish your job :/

It's usually pretty easy to tell where someone's door would open into your own. A Camaro has a really long door, an SUV has a high door, etc.

I had a mini in my glovebox. The batteries exploded from the heat and ruined it.

They're built well, but the lights suck hard. After getting my tactical Xenon light I can't even stand to use my Maglite for anything, so I'm getting a 2D cell LED light to replace it.

It's one of the most useful tools on my belt, considering I primarily work nights. I don't know what all these rubes need 'em for. :p
