School is definitely back in swing; just want all the underclassman to be aware that we're not going to do your homework.

Show us some signs that you attempted the problem or ask specific questions on a certain step. Make some effort and it'll be reciprocated, otherwise prepare to be flamed.

Poll added just for the hell of it.

I don't mind helping someone who is having trouble understanding how to do something (like the truth table thread).

I won't help someone who just wants answers, or wants someone to find a bunch of online sources to do an assignment they should have done days ago but blew off until the last minute.

I agree. It shows that the person at least wants to get the answer when they ask HOW to do a problem, not what the specific answer is. I can't think of a single math course I took in college where "1.34" would have been an acceptable answer. You always needed the work.

It is also nice when someone explains WHAT they don't get instead of "I just don't know." Showing that you understand at least part of the problem and tried a solution, or that you don't know what they are asking for leads me to help.

A train leaves Chicago at 5:30pm going southbound, and one leaves St. Louis going northbound at 6:00pm. Assuming constant velocity of 60mph, at what time will they collide?

QFT. If a person just posts the problem with the underlying meaning of "Solve this for me" I won't bother. If they post the problem and have the underlying meaning of "I tried this, this and this but something is still wrong. Can you show me what im doing wrong?" I will be more than glad to help.

Never. Their paths don't intersect at any point....

I'm not likely to hep with someone's homework, more because I probably don't understand it anyway, but if someone comes asking for help to understand the problem, rather than asking for the answer, then that should be ok, and answered honestly...who knows, maybe once this voc-rehab things gets going, I'll be here asking
What's the answer to #6? CAN't be "all of the above"...I already used that answer for #4...

I think if you know the answer to a genuine question someone has, you should at least give them a hand with it and not be a dick about it.
