Not that I expect any ladies in OT to have this problem, this is directed to the guys that will never get any always saying a woman is too fat:

11-17-2006 Brazil model who battled anorexia dies

SAO PAULO, Brazil - A 21-year-old anorexic model who weighed only 88 pounds has died of generalized infection, a hospital said. Ana Carolina Reston, who had worked in China, Turkey, Mexico and Japan for several modeling agencies, died Tuesday, according to Sao Paulo's Servidor Publico Hospital.

The hospital said the infection that killed the 5-foot-8-inch model was caused by anorexia nervosa, a disorder characterized by an abnormal fear of becoming obese, an aversion to food and severe weight loss.

In September, a Spanish fashion show responded to such criticism by banning models with a body mass index of less than 18. Body mass index is a calculation doctors normally apply to study obesity, and anyone with an index below 18.5 is considered underweight.

Reston would have had a body mass index of 13.4 at the time of her death, according to a calculator on the Web site of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

If you notice, young girls today are thinner than ever...and they still think they are fat.

This is the image the fashion and entertainment industries portray.

'Tis a shame. The pics I have seen don't really convey that she was THAT skinny, and she was lovely. It's always sad when someone so young passes.

Wow that's sad.

I once "dated" a girl who was 5' 10" and under 130 lbs. She always thought she was overweight too. She had dreams of being a celebrity model...but she never made it far.

I ran into her about 10 years later and she weighs a lot more now.

My son is in first grade, and the school is full of fat kids, actually not just fat - obese. I remember going to school and there would always be the 'chubby' kid. Today in comparison I bet that chubby kid would look skinny compared to the orcas that stagger around the schoolyard.

It is sad really.

That's the same thing that I was thinking! There was one chubby kid every year. But my wife is dealing with a 65 lbs (or 85?? I can't remember) 4 year old at her school, and this is getting to be typical.

Spain only enforced that rule for a single runway event.
There is no standard in Spain.

Debate of this in the industry started with the death os size zero Luisel Ramos last august....

(I don't know where the pic is from there are better ones out there... that's probably her as a kid or something...)

Dr Phil had a show on anorexia yesterday link with two women who weighed 60 and 63 lbs. So sad. They still thought at those weights that they were bloated and needed to be skinnier..

Ugh. I saw the highlights somewhere of that. That was sick. Don't even want to know what their image of 'thin' is..
