VR now though
I think it will still have a place for the flight sim/racing crowd though.
That's what you really need that 3090 for.
Price has always been what keeps VR niche, until they wholesale VR setups (headset, controllers/towers) for sub $200 it will always be a deadend. It also doesn't help that the GPU to drive the headset is OOS or scalped to the moon.
nonono.. its for programing purposes...
yeah... thats right.... programing purposes... i did not buy this gpu for epeen.... *watches nose grow*
The Quest 2 is a single stand alone unit.
It has a type C connector so you can connect it to a PC over usb 3.2
But that is beyond the point... VR headsets are very uncomfortable to wear more then a few hours... Also they can get really nasty and smelly, from the sweat while wearing one, which is why i have a box of those disposable face guards to use.
Also they leave you with racoon eyes for 30 min after you game'd on it.
Current state of affairs Scandinavia
3080 - is right out. Just not available and no telling when they'll be back in stock.
3080ti is available for prices ~3.000.- usd .. average a little higher.
THIS IS INSANE.
Bitcoin just took another nose dive with the news out of China.
If I had business intellect I'd buy a 3080ti with some of the btc I have left. It seems like an equation that balances it self out.
I ended up liking VR a lot (which I didn't expect). I've had some magical moments, like that time when this group of maybe 6 or 7 guys went upstairs to play Russian Roulette. They were hiding from me and everyone else so they wouldn't be bothered. So I walk up there and ask if they've seen moonbogg (I had been terrorizing them previously). No sign of moonbogg, so OK, good then. Let's play russian roulette. I excuse myself and walk down the stairs for a moment (so they wouldn't hear my pull the pin on the grenade), walk back up and roll it across the floor right in the middle of them all. I wait...BOOM CHAOS! Half of them die and I clean up the rest with a pump shotgun and laugh my literal ass off, and I mean clean off.
No flat screen gaming experience has ever come close to that, not even a little. I am convinced that VR has a bright future, but adoption has been slow. As much as people don't like facebook, they are the catalyst that will revolutionize development and adoption of VR. Others will compete with their own stand-alone headsets. I love it. Also, the Valve Index is hugely popular. It was on the steam best seller list multiple times in a row. They couldn't make enough of them.
Looking on Ebay, and the cheapest 3070ti I found new was $810 USD.
Totally disguting,considering it's supposed to be a $500 card at most,I think.

Was that a buy it now price? I'm seeing $1,200 for 3070's on Ebay when I just looked. While I'll admit even $800 for a $500 cards crazy, right now that would be a steal compared to the rest on there. Hell, the pre owned 3070ti's are over $800 on auctions that don't have BIN, so I'm thinking even used ones will go for like a G
Wow, somebody who 'won'! You can probably just turn around a sell it for a nice mark up if you don't have a current use for it.
