Yup I confirmed it with their non-english speaking tech support too. They said the server automatically cuts off the connection past 100MB, and you cannot resume the file transfer either.

Yeah I guess that's possible, but it's a PITA.
The tech support guy just told me to create a text file with "AllowStoreRestart on" in it, and rename it to .ftpaccess and place it on the root directory. That's supposed to let it upload large files. Testing it now.
 
i have uploaded files > 100mb to my free 1and1 account before

(not in the past couple months though)

i have never been successfully enabling resumes, IIRC it is configured that way
