I don't own both consoles but would like to put my two cents in.

I have never owned a Sony console. I passed on PS1 (N64/Dreamcast), PS2 (Xbox) and PS3 (X360).

After E3 2013 I preordered a PS4 with Watch Dogs. I felt that the PS4 was targeted more towards gaming and felt that was the correct decision.

Watch Dogs was pushed back to Q2 2014. I honestly couldn't come up with another game I wanted. I cancelled the pre-order.

Watch Dogs comes out... Meh, do I really want to buy a console for one game... Nothing looks really promising...

E3 2014... Interesting stuff... Still haven't purchased, but...

August 2014 I bought a Xbox One. I don't regret it at all. Yes, I know it is "technically inferior" but the bottom line came down to this.

The games I wanted to play were coming to Xbox One. I didn't care about the vast majority of Sony exclusives. I wanted Forza, Titanfall, Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Crackdown and Gears of War. Those were the games I was interested in. And now with Universal App support in Windows 10 and DirectX 12 potentially closing the performance gap a bit I don't regret the decision at all.

But that means nothing if you really want to play No Man's Sky, Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo or The Last Guardian.

I think Horizon Zero Dawn alone makes it worth it but that was just leaked at E3. Are you not worry that X1 exclusive could eventually come to PC like some of them have including Sunset Overdrive which is in the work?

No, they won't. Some will, but I think that'll be limited to ones where mouse+keyboard won't have a major advantage over a controller for cross-platform play (like Fable and Killer Instinct). On top of that, if it WERE to happen, Halo and Forza are system-selling exclusives. Microsoft would kill its console sales if it brought them over, so the only way I could EVER see that happening is if they decided to get out of console gaming and turned the Xbox brand into basically a mini-PC with Windows 10 and an Xbox skin. They'd literally leave the console market if they were to put Halo on PC (or they'd lag it behind by 2-3 years), and if they did that, it would be probably with Halo 6, which (given the typical 3-year Halo gap), wouldn't be until 2018. The console will be 5 years old by then, so worrying about exclusives in 5 years and skipping a bunch now over that would be asinine.

Besides, No Man's Sky, Shenmue 3, Street Fighter V, Final Fantasy XIV, and a buuuuuunch of the Sony indie exclusives are on PC. Plus, a decent chunk of the games on PS4 and not on the One are on PS3. It could be argued that a PS4 isn't an upgrade over a PS3, if you want to have a PC as well. Not everyone wants a gaming PC, so I don't get why you keep bringing this point up.

I mean, look at Arkham Knight. How many PC gamers are pissed they can't play that right now because it's only functioning on consoles, to the point that Steam won't even let people buy it until it's fixed. With the popularity of consoles today, ports have been rather shoddy in recent history. The first Dark Souls, Fallout 3, they were almost unplayable in their release form. Porting has made a lot of recent, major titles perform poorly on PC in general, not just to an unplayable degree.

No. Because of this.

I don't even own what some of you would consider a traditional computer. I have a Surface 3 Pro that I use in tablet mode almost all of the time and an iPad and iPhone. Then I own a Core i7 machine with 32GB of RAM but it's stuffed full of SSD's and is my lab system where I recreate customer environments. I don't even have a desk to put a traditional computer.

Speaking of which, I'm enjoying Arkham Knight!

Yeah, my sister has a SP3 as well (tipped her off to Best Buy's tablet trade-in deal, which gave her $150 in credit towards the thing when she gave them her early-2012 ASUS Transformer). She uses it as a laptop, pretty much. I hope the SP4 has a much better keyboard, as that thing is too flimsy for my liking. Otherwise, I'd rather go with a Lenovo Yoga for a hybrid experience. Of course, if you're big on the pen and digitizer, that's another story.
