PS3

I've noticed that my PS3 80gb gets extremely hot. Any of you PS3 owners notice that your PS3 gets hot when playing a 1080p blu ray movie or a game for lengthy periods?

Is the stock cooling in the console sufficient enough so that it doesn't overheat?

I hardly notice the fan noise on mine. one thing people say is not to have it inside an entertainment center. Mine sits on an open shelf.

Mine does too, and I don't run the heat in my place so there's no real reason for it to get so warm. Room temp is probably 70s most of the time.

PS3's aren't known for overheating, most failures are the blu-ray drive, after that the bluetooth not working well enough.

If a PS3 is getting too hot inside the case (outside doesn't matter -- that heat is gone, let it go) you'll hear the fan get much louder than normal.

A typical PS3 has 3 fan speeds:
- wabbit hunting quiet
- I can heaar you
- wow, that's like 360 DVD drive loud

Unless you're hearing the loudest fan speed all the time, your PS3 should be fine.

Might want to clean any dust out as well. I use a vacuum cleaner over the vents from time to time. Just be careful and use like the crevice tool and dont leave it in any one place too long. Google the proper technique.
