PS3 Video File Problems

My plan is to rip my DVDs to h264 mp4 files and place them on an external HD for viewing through my PS3 in my bedroom. I was snooping around some other forums and found that Fairuse would be my best option. I ripped Minority Report to a 1gb mp4 file in about 1hr 45 minutes, and it played flawlessly on my computer. Audio/video all synced and everything.

However, when I put the file on a thumbdrive to test on my PS3, it says it is "unsupported data." From my understanding, h264 files are compatible with the PS3. I even used the "PS3" setting within Fairuse. Any idea why this isn't working?

I think I read something about there being a problem with files over 1GB? How close are you to 1GB?

That MediaInfo program says it's 991mb, Windows says it's 1,014mb (a true gig)

Shouldn't be a file size issue. I've played h264 files that were roughly 13 GB in size just fine.

Maybe if I put in in an AVI container? Fairuse gives me the option, I just don't know if there are any drawbacks. I'm not too concerned about keeping 5.1 audio since this TV is in my bedroom and currently is just outputting sound through the TV speakers. If I ever upgraded it would be at most a 2.0/2.1 setup.

I don't think the PS3 supports B-Pyramid, and I think the highest AVC level is High@4.1
