Yeah Sony must be getting jealous of all the press Microsoft has been getting over the xbox 360. It'd be nice to see these two systems come out at the same time...I'm probably gonna buy the PS3 though cuz I've never owned a playstation before and want to play gran turismo. :)

Seriously doubt it. There has been little to no info released about the PS3, while actual Xbox 360 information has been trickling out bit by bit since January.

I bet they will show a nice tech video and perhaps a model and specs will be revealed. But a 2005 release in the U.S. is very doubtful. Perhaps Japan.

The PS3 CPUs aren't even scheduled to go into production until early next year. It's not coming out this year, they'd have to already have development kits in the hands of developers, and the kits don't even exist yet from anything I've heard

Not to mention the Blu-Ray format they announced would be in the PS3. That still has to be finalized too.

Don't take this personally, because this isn't pointed at you specifically; this comment is just the straw that broke the camel's back and I had a bit of a rough day... but 95% of the people who say "cell technology is awesome" don't have the slightest clue about how it differs from traditional CPU architecture. They just see 4 GHz and eleventy billion flops on the spec sheets and wet themselves. This is beside the fact that no-one knows how easy or hard it is to code for or what performance will be like in the real-world or even how it will actually be implemented in PS3.

This is not restricted to Sony either, btw; Microsoft says triple-core @ 3.2 GHz and all of a sudden everyone is swooning when just about nothing is known about the core.

Honestly, I'm sick of hearing how awesome XYZ is when very little is known about it. You can replace XYZ by PS3, Nintendo Revolution, Xbox360, Intel or AMD's next gen stuff, whatever.

Now flame away, I probably deserve it.

Xbox 360 didn't impress me. Nothing really useful other than beefed up graphics. The car game looked awesome but the rest of it didn't look all that impressive, compareable to Hl2, which was built like 2 years ago...

Remember that the extra processing power not only brings beefed up graphics, but beefed up AI, beefed up worlds, etc. It's just up to the developers if they want to use the extra power for stuff other than graphics.

HL2 does look impressive, but remember it was in the making for like 5 or 6 years. Give some developers that much time to code for the XBOX 360 or PS3, and I'd think it will look just as good.

Do you know this from personal experience or are you just regurgitating what all the other fanboys are saying?
