Great so we know it's fast, and looks ok. Oh and games should look good too, Big deal.
Launch with a remake of FFVI & FFVII and I'll buy it.

"Square Enix has just shown off a Final Fantasy VII tech demo for the PlayStation 3, but they did not announce a specific game for it. Yet."

the PS3 looks so much better than the Xbox360!!!
There are rumors that Sony will have the PS3 ready before the Xmas season. I agree with you about the PS3 controller. WTF were they thinking? The PS2 controller was perfect.Originally posted by: Queasy

They look about even to me. PS3 has a slight edge in the graphics dept which it should since it will be released 6+ months after the Xbox360. Claiming 1080p support is nice but 1080p displays still aren't on the market and probably won't be mainstream until the next round of consoles comes around. I think MS is going to have the edge in online play again though. Sony still doesn't look like it quite know what it wants to do.
And for all the complaints about the Xbox controllers, that PS3 controller is horrendous. WTF were they thinking?
Those rumors pretty much ended last night. PS3 will be a 2006 product.Originally posted by: Muadib

Free does not necessarily equal better. Some PS2 online games were a pain in the arse while the Live! service has worked out all their kinks and keep adding features. Xbox360 will have a free tier and a pay tier btw.How do you figure the Xbox had the advantage online? The PS2 online is free, and so far so is the PS3.
And those models are still going to cost big bucks. 1080p displays will still be the high-end for a couple of more years.Displays that support 1080p are out now!!! Sony has the Qualia 006, and one of Sharp's Aquos LCD supports it. Samsung has some DLP models due out any day now. Not mainstream, but if you got the bucks it can be yours today. There are many more models due out this year.
Having Blu-ray in the PS3 will cost extra as well. They're putting their eggs in the basket that Blu-ray becomes the dominant next-gen DVD format (of course putting it in the PS3 is part of their plan to make it the format). And lets not forget, the PS3 will have Blu-ray support out of the box. The Xbox360 might support HDDVD, but it's gonna cost you extra.
Time will tell. They must know that they can't afford to wait 6 months after the Xbox360 is released. The loss in marketshare would be huge.Originally posted by: Queasy

Which games were pains? I didn't get them all, but between me and my brother we came close. Good to know the Xbox360 live will have a free tier. You can keep the extras, I just want to play the game!Free does not necessarily equal better. Some people would say the same about the models that were out the last few years too. However sales for them have been outstanding. I consider them mainstream when you can buy them at stores like Best Buy, Fry's and Circuit City. That should happen this year. And those models are still going to cost big bucks. 1080p displays will still be the high-end for a couple of more years.
Sony knows it can't overprice the PS3. They will have to keep the price comparable to the Xbox360, just like they did last round. They are more than willing to take a loss on the PS3, because they know they will more than make it up if Blu-ray becomes the HD format. They can win 2 wars with one big blow.Having Blu-ray in the PS3 will cost extra as well. Actually, alot of what the PS3 has seems like it's going to raise the costs of the box up. All the memory format slots, two HDMI outputs, two ethernet jacks, support for 7 controllers, etc.
