Also, I find it funny they are adding their own version of vioce masking that Microsoft did away with in the 360 after they found that nobody really used it on the original XBOX.

Meh, this isn't all that big of a deal since the 360 has had this support for 2 weeks now and, IMO, has a better interface when dealing with videos. Kinda weird how unimportant it seems when the competitor beats you to the punch only a couple of weeks in advance.

Those seem to be the only major limitations. No Xvid support is a downer. The 2GB file limit can be a problem in a few situations. Not being able to play copy-righted material will suck for those trying to obtain videos legitimately.

Voice masking is extremely irritating to me, right up there with the voice of a screaming 9-year old
edit: And you know that every idiot out there will select the highest-pitched tone that they can for voice masking. That or the deepest. It will be just another reason to mute people every game. Can you mute people in game on the PS3?

The big deal here isn't even DivX, it's the profile 1.1 for Blu-Ray. This will make the PS3 one of the few profile 1.1 players currently available on the market. Of course, now we need actual BR movies created for 1.1.

What? That's stupid. Why is it unimportant? What about PS3 owners that don't have a 360? I'd say its just as important to them now as it would be if the 360 didn't have it a few weeks ago.

Typically Firmware <> Operating System. It sounds to me like they're just patching their OS. I highly doubt that the system is getting flashed every update.
