wow, some of those screens don't look much better than the regular xbox, def not next gen, especially 1 year after the 360 release. the environments look exceedingly bland, not much bump mapping or any other special effects going on.

I'm still waiting for the first great 3D sonic game. I loved the classic 2D ones on the genesis. The 3D Sonic games just never did it for me. The game looks ok for the PS3. The first level from Sonic Adventure makes a comeback (noticed that damn whale).

Unfortunately it will cost $95 and there will only be 3 copies of it when it launches in the US (1 in Japan).

The lava/rock looking creature in this shot looks like it's using normal mapping. Definitely pretty boring overall, but what did you expect, though? It's a colorful cartoon, like Mario.

why does it look they are recycling a level from Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Maybe was #2 but level with the killer whale was used in a previous game.

Looks gorgeous. You guys saying the graphics on the Xbox360 look better, show some examples. I've seen a bunch of demo's on the 360 up at Best and none of the graphics look that good.

you're saying this looks better than anything you've seen on the 360? Hell, that looks barely batter than a re-vamped quake3 engine which the gamecube could push out. Jedi Academy anyone?

No kidding. That game is just plain ugly. Any of the 360 release titles look light years ahead of that sonic game.

There is no point in looking at still frames. For all you know, it could be doing that at 10 fps.

I can fire up my old Pentium 400 and turn the detail level all the way up and take screenshots, but that doesn't tell you how the movement is.

Yeah Sonic himself looks friggin awesome. The backgrounds in game look like crizzap. Those pictures where you can make out every hair on the girl and the dude's mustache must be cut scenes.

Do you really think that's gameplay? I'd bet you damn near anything you'd care to name that frame was taken out of a cutscene.

Well, that looks like cutscene footage to me. IMO, the shot I linked to will be more indicative of what the game looks like as a whole.

I'm sure the PS3 will have nice graphics, but Sonic apparently isn't going to showcase them.

LOL..a lot of (or maybe ALL) 360 games look better than that trash. Go take a look at the Lost Planet demo on Xbox Live sometime. I don't know why people are expecting amazing things out of the PS3, it uses the nVidia RSX chip which is based off the 7800 core. That chip will be 2 yrs old by the time PS3 is available in mass quantity and its still won't be as feature rich as the 360s ATi Xenos.

I don't know why people are expecting amazing things out of the PS3, it uses the nVidia RSX chip which is based off the 7800 core. That chip will be 2 yrs old by the time PS3 is available in mass quantity and its still won't be as feature rich as the 360s ATi Xenos.

Right but the games will be on Blu Ray disc meaning a lot more room for storage. So where MS would have to skimp on space for textures, models, etc, so they'll fir on a dvd, the PS3 will have the storage capacity for whatever a game designer could possibly want to do.
