So I've recently purchased a Sony Bravia tv that comes with a free PS3 Slim 120gb.

I already own a 60gb PS3, and now am at a crossroads about which I should sell. They both have their ups and down.

Discuss...

Unless there's a feature on the 60G that you use, go with the slim and save some energy. Trade in the 60 for some games or something.

I would sell the Slim if your 60gb has the PS2 internals. Otherwise, comes down to whatever you prefer. Also, I believe you can put in any size 2.5in HDD you like (without Sony trying to ban hammer you or claim void warranty).

All 60GBs have the Emotion Engine so...

If you use your PS3 a lot, you might want to go with the slim since its more energy efficient

The fat 60gb model is the Cadillac model. It would be insane to sell it. Dump the slim and drop a huge HDD into the 60gb.

Do you use the PS2 compatibility?

If not. the slim uses half as much power, runs quieter, and has a 1-year warranty. The 60 GB is out of warranty so it will cost you $149 to repair it when the blu-ray drive dies.

It's still a bit of a toss up though because every since this promotion eBay and other local selling sites have been flooded with PS3's which is pushing prices down. But I do love fatty, he's been around for a very long time and has caused me no grief.

I would sell the PS3 slim on ebay or trade it off for some games. The 60 GB is better. The instruction manual in your PS3 should have instructions on how to swap out the HDD (that is what someone posted on the PS3 forums at sony.com). Your PS3 can take up to a 500 GB HDD that costs less than $100, just look at the sony PS3 forums if you want to upgrade it.

Just throwing this out there. 60GB PS3's are selling for as much as a new PS3 on eBay and Craig's List cus they are the ones that the hardcore players want. If you don't care about backwards compatibility then you could sell it for some good chunk of change. If you do want backwards compatibility then keep the 60.

Looks like it's a great time to sell my 80GB MGS4 PS3.

Yeah, that was the last decent PS3 made...so far. Who knows what those tards at Sony will do next.

I have read several posts on the PS3 forums at sony.com regarding how well this console was made. I am happy I went with this one a while back.

Yep. I just upgraded my 60GB PS3 to a 500GB drive and I'm extremely happy with it. The thing is perfect now. I also have the 80GB MGS4 PS3 which I may upgrade the HDD on it too.

Nope. They're all 2x, 72mbits/s.

I play PS2 games a lot on mine. I think it's been well established that I'm a huge Okami fan. However, I think BC really caters more to people who don't own or never owned a PS2 like myself. There's nothing wrong with the slim, but I think the original SKUs will definitely hold onto their value longer.

Stick with your 60gb unless you don't use bc and want something smaller, quieter and that uses less power.

This! I wish I had bought a 60 GB PS3 a few years ago instead of my 360, but I have the MGS4 80 GB model, which might not be a Cadillac, but it's not a Kia either. :p

Not this. This might possibly be the worst advice I have ever seen on these forums.

doesnt the old one also have more usb ports (if that matters to anyone)?

Yes, it has 4. There are 2 on newer non-BC models.

IMO, the decision is pretty simple. Keep the 60GB if you have any interest in playing PS2 games, keep the Slim if not.
