well i just got my ps3, picked up the 80gb and just bought time crisis4.

I just grabbed 2 controllers and well i'm looking for more little extras. I saw on ebay silcone cover for the controllers. rubber plugs for like USB ports to prevent dust , fans to help cool it. So i'm wondering who bought little items like that and how they feel about them.

Personally i'm looking to grab the controller covers and the remote for it now. I dont have a LCD or anything thats HDMI so i wont be getting a cable for that as of yet.

The remote is nice if you watch a lot of movies like I do. (If I had a $200+ Harmony remote I'd probably buy an infrared sensor dongle instead.)

I got the PS1/PS2 memory card adapter since I still use my PS2 Slim. It lets me use the PS3 hard drive to back up memory cards so I don't lose old saves when I start new games (you can copy back to memory cards too).

I plan to order a longer USB cable for if I forget and let the controller batteries run down but I haven't gotten around to it yet. FYI, it's a standard cable so you can buy a cheap one from monoprice, etc.

^^ agreed. the bluetooth remote is great for watching movies...and it's not too expensive (~$20). i also picked up the logitech bluetooth keyboard for surfing the net. it's cool, but lacks the R1/R2/R3, L1/L2/L3, PS buttons. kinda sucks... but i use the keyboard in conjunction with the remote to offset this issue. ebgames carries a few cases, but i'm not sure what the quality is like: http://www.ebgames.com/search.asp?N=141+119

just hdmi cable, and controllers here. oh also i got one of those memory card adaptors but only used it once. you should probably just borrow one of those, or buy used.

hdmi cable, optical audio cable, i have every memory stick slot full (to back up my game saves, import divx movies, import pics, and to import ps3 themes (http://www.psu.com/themes.php)),

bluetooth headset,

one of those gaming keyboards that I won off at comic con 2007 (pretty nice keyboard after using it for awhile),

my G5 mouse for UT3,

splitfish fragFX (http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=79&threadid=2124750 for my review of it) for CoD4 and Warhawk (doesn't work well for any other games but those two),

dualshock3 (yaya i couldn't wait..got it imported),

ps2 memory card adaptor, ps2 controller adaptor,

HdExtender (http://www.engadget.com/tag/HdExtender/; yanked out the 60 gig 5400 rpm hdd inside and stuck in a Seagate 400gig 3.5 SATA HDD w/ YDLinux).

ps3 sucks as a regular linux workstation though haha. But I only use it for when I work at home. I'm not a big fan of Yellow Dog's UI... Just rather have KDE.

I have a keyboard (cheap USB one) for typing whatever I need to. That and a headset...that's it.

Just the HDMI cable and remote. I still do not own any games for it though.

The ~$25 BluWave USB IR receiver works fine with <$100 Logitech harmony 6xx and 5xx. I am currently using a Logitech 676 with my PS3's BluWave USB IR receiver. I also have a wireless keyboard (comes in handy when web browsing or using Yellow Dog).

My PS3 is used just as a BluRay Disc, upscaling DVD, DivX player and HTPC (web browsing, watch movies via the browser, etc). I do not play hardly any PS3 games (almost all of the games that I enjoy are exclusive to Windows (PC) and not available on consoles), so I mainly just focus on making my PS3 as good of a media hub as possible.

Oh, and I connect via a HDMI cable (3rd party, non PS3 cable).

You're missing out on Uncharted. That was the first game I bought (well, my wife bought it for me as a birthday gift, but it's the first game I've WANTED to buy and recommended to her as a gift to me :) ).
NExt game will be Burnout Paradise, have a blast with the demo, can't wait to see the full game in January.

I have the HDMI and optical cables, along with component cables. I do have the bluetooth headset that came with Warhawk but I don't like it at all, comes off too easy.

If you have a tv with HDMI ports, just get an HDMI cable from www.monoprice.com

+1 on the bluray remote control (~$20), it's a must for movies. If you use the DIVX playback for AVI files, this remote also works great with it!

I am using a Logitech EX110 cordless keyboard/mouse combo on my PS3.

I didn't buy a spare controller because the dualshock3 with vibration support is now on sale in Japan, so it'll be here soon enough and should cost the same as the six axis controller.

I have a Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel and pedal which works AWESOME on the GT5 Prologue, so I expect it will be supported when the full GranTurismo 5 comes out next year.

I bought the 3rd party IR remote so I can use my universal remote. $15

I also have the PS Eye, has some cool mini-games and the mic can replace a headset. $70 w/ EoJ or $40 alone.

You can also use a USB K&M for input or games like UT3.

The PS3 isn't as ala cart as the 360, so the add-ons are not really as vital or expensive.

hm.. so no-one got the silcone skins for the controllers? Or any of the other little tiny things in that package? No cooling fans etc?

Right now i just picked up 2 extra controllers.

time crisis 4 x 2 for the 2nd guncon.

I'm getting the sony dvd remote and the ps2 card adapter for sure from your reviews on that.

HDMI cable maybe later down the road when i get me a HDTV

HDMI cable, arcade fighting stick, and guncon

I'll pick up a second controller when dualshock with vibration is released.

got the ps1/ps2 memory card reader (annoyingly it doesnt come with a usb cable but it doesnt matter cause all ps3s come with one to charge your controller). also got an hdmi cable to do 1080p and an extra controller (total of 2).

i dont see the point of the bluetooth remote when the controller does the same thing...anyone want to enlighten me (this is coming from a guy who has an all in one remote to control everything and doesnt need any more remotes to deal with)?

Just get something like the BluWave USB IR receiver , plug it into the PS3, then configure your universal remote to make use of it. Then, you can lose the controller for when you are not gaming and you are just playing around with the settings or watching movies on it. It works great with my Logitech Harmony 676.
