PS3 online

Ive been playing Burnout Paradise a lot, and I can always join online games, but I can never host one. It creates the game and I can drive around, and it says the game type is open, but no one ever joins.
Is there a router port that needs to be forwarded or something?
I get so tired of joining games where the host never starts challenges or races and would like to get something going to do the challenges I havent done yet.

i dunno on PS3 but on xbox360 it's hard to get random people to join games w/just 1 person in them.

typically when i've created a game it's been when i've had like 2-3 friends on, and i'll create a game and open it, then people will start coming in.

i've tried to start a game by myself and more than 1/2 the time, no one else will join.

Maybe its specific for the game, but I figured it autobalanced. For example, whenever I play online I just select start online, and a second later im joined to a random game. Wouldnt the server randomly send a few people my way on its own?
