PS3 on my LCD Monitor

Hi!

I want to play my PS3 on my LCD monitor, which is an Samsung 225BW.

Can you please tell me what to buy, what HDMI wire, which DVI-to-HDMI adapter... to buy?!?

I'll buy my stuff on monoprice.com so if you could give me direct links from the website, that'd be well appreciated.

Thank you!

Don't worry bout anything, Just minimize cost and everything should be fine. You won't be able to get 1080p though, You should invest in a tv monitor if ur looking to.

I don't see why you're asking your question.

Get a cheap HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVI adapter, run it to the monitor, enjoy.

No the monitor will stretch the image. Any HDMI to DVI cable will work fine. It's not like there's some secret type of cable that yields better results. Assuming your monitor doesn't have an HDMI input. If it does, just get a cheap HDMI cable, problem solved. It's digital so it's either going to work or not work.

Audio can either be outputted via HDMI, RCA, or Optical. It does the audio seperately from the video so you can plug in a display via HDMI, and run the audio via rca to a receiver. It's all in the options. The PS3 is actually pretty good with configuration options.

So, basically, there is no need to buy a HDMI to DVI adapter... just buy the HDMI/DVI cable you mentioned AstroManLuca. Right?

My computer's speakers are Logitech X-230 (http://www.logitech.com/index....evices/208&cl=roeu,en). One of the speakers has an headphones plug (see on the link). Can I take the PS3's composite cables and connect them from the PS3 to this headphones plug to have my audio? If not, what do you suggest I do (cheapest and easiest way.. I don't care about having the best sound)?

Also, if I take my LCD Monitor for my PS3, if I have my computer running, how can I switch from the PS3 to the computer? Is there a button somewhere on the monitor to switch it?

I am not sure about the audio.

For the video, you'll have to connect the HDMI/DVI cable to your monitor's DVI input, and then switch your computer over to using a VGA cable. The quality may not be as good but it's probably worth it. Then you just go into your LCD monitor's menus and switch the input between digital/DVI (PS3) and analog/VGA (computer).

Alternatively, you could just switch the cables every time you want to play on the PS3, but that's a hassle. You could also get a DVI switch, but those are expensive. Better just to use one input for the PS3 and the other for the computer.

I have my 360 hooked up in a similar manner. For the audio I just use an RCA to 3.5mm stereo headphone converter and hook it up the the line in on my sound card. It's not 5.1 but the quality is great and it gets the job done for cheap. Just browsing I found this one:

but you can probably find something similar just by walking into your local Radio Shack.
