PS3 Network (port forwarding)

I barely started to get online with my PS3 and I noticed I kept getting disconnected when I sign in and when i try and join a multiplayer game.

I'm behind a linksys router so I suspect I need to open up some ports. During the connection test it was determined the NAT was of type 3 and warned me about connection issues etc. I'm assuming this is the cause.

Anyways, does anyone know of which ports to forward. I'm lazing with google right now and I'm sure someone else can benefit from this thread in the future here.

Thanks.

How old is your router? Newer ones usually have uPNP which pretty much automatically forward ports I believe, but may be disabled by default.

This post on the playstation boards seems to concern your problem.

I found the uPnP, and it is enabled....

I'll try the actual port forwards and see if the connection stays connected.

See if it still happens if you disable media sharing. That seems to be a problem.

Weird.. I have the same router and it works fine. Media sharing, online gaming, DL from sony store, I have never had any issues. Are you wireless or wired ? Maybe try a different channel ( if wireless)

Edit, forgot to say I have the same "error" from the selftest.. It has never been an issue.

We may have to try that. Just got a new router, and the media server causes everything to disconnect. I was gonna load it with DD-WRT, but it's not compatible :(
