Ok, so I spent several hours last night trying to get MotionJoy to work on my PC.

I guess before I go any further, I should ask if this works with all Emulators. Such as Dolphin or whatever, and whichever I would decide to use for Super Nintendo Emulation. If it dont, then I have no need for it.

And before anyone asks, I do not plan on buying a 360 controller or an alternative for it. Ill be buying a 360 in the coming months to add to my console collection..but the time isnt now.

Anyway...I downloaded the Motionjoy software, installed it and I am guessing it automatically installs the drivers for the USB now, cause after the installation, device manager confirmed Motionjoy drivers were installed for the device.

Now when I run the DS3 Tool, to run the software, I know "I think" your suppose to load the driver from the list then click enable ? At least based on the text from the Motionjoy site.

Every time I run the software, the box states "waiting for controller to be connected" I unplug the controller, plug it back in..reboot...disabled driver signing from boot up, tried a lot of things, and it still says...waiting for controller to be connected. I have googled around, and there are others with the same issue..and all seem to have get it working, but for me...their solutions isnt helping.

So, anyone know what I am doing wrong ?

It is being used on the "Gina" rig in sig, and my OS is Win 7 x64.

Any ideas ?

TLDR : PS3 controller is not worth trying with Windows when the 360 controllers exist. Even if you get the thing working in game A, games B, C, and D might have issues. It's just a mess at best.

Your time is valuable
, for about $15 online you can get a wired 360 controller (I use a particular Madcatz 360 pad for the legit D-pad). 'Several hours'? That should be a clue as to how flaky DS3 support is on PC.

Honestly I hate the 360 controller. I looked into motionjoy but kept hearing how unreliable it was, so I am thinking about just grabbing a DS4. But I'll look at that guide.

Here it is for confirmation. Works great. The games I have tried thus far is...

Emulators I have tried are Jnes and Snes9x.

Final Fantasy II
The Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past
Mike Tysons Punch Out
TMNT IV Turtles In Time
Super Mario Bros 1 + 2 + 3
Super Mario RPH Legend Of Seven Stars

Of course, I had to input the "key bindings" which took about 5 seconds, but it runs flawlessly. So far, there is nothing flaky about it. :)

I never got motion joy to work right with bluetooth. I ended up just buying a wireless receiver for the 360 controllers.

Are the ds4s any better now? I though you still had to go the motion joy route.

Edit: just read up. It's not motion joy, but you still need extra software to trick the PC into thinking you have a 360 controller.

There is a small utility called ds4 tool that you run and it will detect your controller and patch it through xinput so it emulates the 360 controller 100%. No driver install needed. The touch pad works, rumble works and both the left and right are adjustable independently, you can also change the color on the ds4 light to any color you want or turn it completely off.

I used motionjoy for a couple of days, but then suddenly I couldn't turn my controller on anymore

Doing a factory reset on it (pushing the reset button), made me able to turn it on, but I could no longer get motionjoy to recognize it. Was just going to pair it with my ps3 again...but it refuses to pair.

I can plug the controller into the ps3, and use it that way, but it absolutely refuses to pair with my, or anyone else's ps3. So, it became utterly useless, and I ended up throwing the controller away after a week of trying to fix it.

What caused my controller to go nuts? Beats me. But, I've just used an xbox controller since. Much easier. I don't think I'll be trying to use motionjoy again.

Motionjoy is like malware. Have fun with the uninstall.
I have installed, and uninstalled 4 times until he posted the guide here that he used, which worked. The installs, and uninstalls, went perfectly fine each time.

Is the bluetooth connection stable too? If so I'll have to check it out. That was the last thing I was waiting for. I'm playing in the living room with my tower being in a different room, so wired isn't an option.

I use wired as I don't have Bluetooth on my PC.

Xbox controller blows. And the driver emulates the DualShock so it works in any game.

That's what I hear. Better DS3 is supposed to be easier to use and malware-free.

And for those that Do Not Like the 360 controller?

That said, I've had relatively few issues getting MotioninJoy working with my racing games. Lacking Bluetooth, I use a wired setup, and then just bind the buttons accordingly.

I like the DS3 better than the stock 360 controllers personally, but like a solid aftermarket pad even better (I'm an absolute stickler for a great D-pad with the retro titles and platformers out there).

Weirdly, I have huge hands, but like the Microcon quite well :

Most people in the last gen preferred the 360 pads. I didn't, stock vs stock, but whatever. The point is that 360 pads are plug and play perfection, and Motionjoy is questionable at best, a complete hack job.

Sony has done so many things right, why they don't officially support the DS3/DS4 on PC themselves is beyond me. Then you can simply just pick the controller you want with zero issues or shady software.

I guess it is just interesting that there aren't other alternatives to motionjoy. I mean Dolphin Wii controller blue tooth emulation works great.

I did read something about a wrapper for xinput but haven't found too much on it.
