PS3 Motion Control - six axis controller

I have the 40 GB system I just got last week. It came with the plain sixaxis wireless controller.

Now I've tried to use the motion control aspect of Heavenly Sword and the demo of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. I seem to get no effect by moving the controller around. Or is my controller without this feature or broken? Help?

In Heavenly Sword, I did go into the options menu and made sure motion control was toggle on for everything. But no effect when I move the darn thing around.

Motion control is not used all the time. Its similar to the wii its specific actions at the specific points. in teh Uncharted demo play up till you get grenades and you'll be able to tilt the controller to set up trajectory. I can't remember at what point in Heavenly Sword where motion is used. I know its for the canon firing section and throwing stuff. But don't know how far int.

It is supposedly used to direct arrows when fired by Kai, but so far I don't see any effect.

I did play Folk Lore and when you are sucking the soul out of folks, you have to raise the controler in the air to complete the move. That is the only thing that seemed to work.

Unlikely, but it may be worth checking your settings. I've noticed many PS3 games now allow you to choose whether or not six axis is used or not. Otherwise, like herkulease said, see if it works with frags in Uncharted. If not, RMA controller and buy a Dualshock while you're waiting.

It looks like it works

I down loaded a simple game from PSN where you tilt a table of water to move floating ducks around. The tilting is done with the motion of the controller. That did work.

So it looks like I'll have to figure out how to make it work in the other games.

I do plan on getting a second controller - though I'm not sure right now what games I will need two for.

Hah, I was actually gonna suggest Rub a Dub when I saw the title. That's probably the best game to test your controller on.

One thing to look out for with all of these games is the movement you're supposed to make is typically supposed to be pretty subtle. If your movements are too exagerrated, they may not be registering properly (if at all).

That makes sense after Rub a Dub Bub'ya. You move the controller only in small motions to move the water table. Before I did this game, I was really wondering if the motion control worked.

More than likely I'll pick up a second controller since I'll want multiplay capability for some games with my daughter. That will be the Dual Shock of course.
