PS3 -> Monitor

Hey guys!

I was wondering how I would go about connecting my PS3 to my BenQ 120hz monitor. My monitor has a HDMI plug thing and so does a ps3. Do I just need the cable? Also how do I get sound?

Thanks!

Any $5 HDMI cable from Amazon or Monoprice is all you need, you do not need a "PS3" HDMI cable.

If your Benq doesn't have built-in speakers, you can use either the optical digital out or the red & white stereo analog outputs of the PS3 for sound. What kind of speaker setup do you have?

I actually use the PC350 headset with my X-Fi XtremeGamer Soundcard.

I run an HDMI cable from my PS3 to an Onkyo receiver. That cable transfer both the sound and video signal... then from my receiver to my monitor i run another HDMI cable which only transfer the video.

My setup requires 2 cables.

Another option would be to run HDMI (video) directly to you monitor, and then run Digital Optical (audio) to your receiver.... but you don't want to do this considering hi-def sounds like DTS-MA can only be sent through HDMI cables.

Hope that helps.
